Chrome stools stand with pale blue upholstered seats in the shape of a circle were lined up, offering a seat to weary patrons. White square tables with blue booths and chairs were spread around the room. The thing that caught Lacey and Sunny's eyes right away was the big machine across the room, standing all alone against the wall. “Look it, Mommy!” Sunny shouts and points, causing Lacey to grin at the child's enthusiasm. “I see the jukebox, baby. It is really cool.” “Can we go check it out, Mom?” Jack is the one to ask her and Lacey nods.

Seeing the luxury around me, I thought that running away from this place might be the best idea. A tinted glass wall was offering an outstanding view of half the city from a high. Every surface was shiny clean and even the caramel-colored tiles on the floor looked glossy. The big desk had an unusual shape like a water drop, made of glass. The few shelves on the opposite wall and the cute oval table were made from the same material. Three white leather sofas were placed near the entrance, almost forming a square.

A large fifty-five-inch HD tv hung from the wall above large cream-colored leather booth seats and extended sofas just behind them mounted to the floors on both sides of me. They were decorated with silk bronze and gold throw pillows like what you’d see in an upscale house. The tabletops were a matching-colored white granite top the overhead paneling was wooden with white borders with bright over head lights. Just behind me to my right was a small kitchen area with a sleek modern stainless-steel stove and overhead microwave mounted to the wall and a matching white granite countertop where a stainless-steel sink rested in the center.

In the corner was a small circular table with a radio on it. "Let me guess...you designed this room?" I asked with an arched brow, he chuckled and ran a hand through his hair. "Nope. This one was all Jewels." I stifle a laugh. "Jewels?" His cheeks tinge rosy as he rubs the back of his neck.

That morning the Headmistress had come to collect me from my chambers in the tower and took me to a strange, circular room. As everything in the tower was, it had high ceilings. There was a large, round contraption in the middle, which looked like a table made out of iron, except the top part wasn't smooth. Four circles of a hundred candleholders each were welded onto the table, each holding a fresh, white-colored, unlit candle. Two large windows let light enter the room.

But as I padded into the living room, I couldn't help but stiffen, narrowing my eyes at the nearly immaculate room greeting me. A brand new coffee table the color of blazing mahogany sat in between the loveseat and couch, just where the one Asheton had reduced to plywood once sat. The tv, or should I say, the brand spanking new, latest model in ultra-sleek, high definition plasma screens took up nearly the entire wall where dad's old tv stand used to be. And just beneath it, there stood a beautifully hand-crafted wooden center console complete with little shelves stocked with what had been salvaged of mom's old trinkets.

Thousands of miles away from where Leesa and Rave said their goodbyes to Dominic, five shadowy figures sat in a large, dimly lit room, gathered around a dark, round table at least ten feet in diameter. The table’s smooth surface was fashioned out of a special, highly polished material that looked almost like black glass. Candles flickered in brass sconces on the chamber’s stone walls, but strangely, none of the light reflected off the top of the table. The dark surface seemed to swallow any illumination that struck it. In addition to the five occupied chairs, four more sat vacant.

Athena P.O.V. The Council room is big, circular and has a platform where the Elders are seated in a halfmoon, overlooking the floor, where Alpha’s and Luna’s are seated at a circular table, also made as a giant halfmoon, so everyone can see each other. The floor is covered in big rugs held in royal maroon colors, the wood chosen for the tables and chairs some sort of dark material. Again there’s torches on the wall to give light, chandeliers (three of them) and fireplaces for warmth as well as light off to the side.

And it wasn’t over. I pivoted toward one of the round tables near the rear of the room, a low-hanging centerpiece half upended over the tablecloth. Candlelight from the piece flickered and danced against the walls. I saw the flame move. A glint underneath the silver-trimmed base. Something inhuman. Decorative but not quite. I didn’t hesitate. I skirted around the velvet runner and yanked the centerpiece aside with one hand. And dropped my stomach. Etched into the table itself in red chalk and burnt black ink was a charm circle.

The moment Elena was out of eyeshot, Marianne glanced toward me again before pushing the silver doors open herself. “Come in, Nyssa.” I stepped inside with the women following behind me. The inner hall was circular and at the center of the hall was a massive round table that was carved from dark wood. It had eight wooden seats around it. Eight for the neighboring packs. This was the true heart of the Crescent Court, not the beautiful entrance hall or the luxurious architecture around the building. No, this was where alliances were formed and politics was influenced. Marianne gestured toward one of the empty seats near the edge of the table. “Sit.”
