Half Price Books Summer Reading Novels & Stories

"O-Of course. We're friends." Satisfied with my response, Bethany finally let go of my arm and followed me inside. I opened the door, but the office was pitch-black. "Dad, these are the friends I mentioned, the ones coming to work here for the summer," I said cautiously. Before I could introduce them, they pushed past me and crowded into the room. "Hello, Mr. Parker. We're here for the summer jobs. May I know what the pay is like? Is ten thousand dollars a month okay? Oh, and I'm not really into factory work. Can I get an office job instead?"

“It’s a bit quiet right now. Everyone comes in during the lunch rush, so you’ve caught me twiddling my thumbs.” “Is it normally busy in here?” I ask, clearing my throat when I start croaking. What the hell is wrong with me? “Depends on the occasion. If there’s a special event or an occasion on the calendar, I get plenty of people in.” She gestures at a notice on the window. “I also have a special hour, as I call it, on Saturday, where you can buy a bag for five dollars and put in as many books as possible. You can buy whatever can get into the bag for the price of the bag.”

For a token of $5/month, you get to read the full story, gain access to other ongoing stories, and also receive a free P*F/ebook copy once the book is edited. Also, by joining my Faceb𝕠𝕠k group: Maramartha’s Book Babes, you can interact with fellow readers about this world. I post silly, random, and even fun images from this world there. You can also ask me or the characters questions directly. So I hope to see you there ;)

After they had the coffee they took their leave and I also went back to sleep. When I woke up it was already half past seven. As if I just slept on a long night. I felt hungry, so I went down and you d Grandpa returned with sine chicken. He has a good sale today as it's exam season and the suggestive books are very good in sales. Grandpa didn't put an extra charge on those books so our store is the most famous on the street. That place doesn't have any other bookstores nearby. So everyone comes to buy books from our store.

No Nut November month started on a busy note as more students crammed into the library for studying sessions. The reading program for elementary students meant more people were borrowing books they usually didn’t read to collect stars on their reading cards to exchange some prizes decided for the school. Mary sighed. It was a busy week.

He adds a puppy face at the end, sticking out his bottom lip and tilting his head slightly. ...try to let loose for a bit... Andy's words ring through my head, as I contemplate actually having to socialise with people my age. "Okay... If you buy me 'Nineteen Eighty-Four' by Aldous Huxley." I smile. Its an old book, one I can't afford but I'm sure its a normal price for someone else. But having to split a majority of the money I get, for school fees and house payments the large sums of money I make gets diminished quite quickly.

“This has nothing to do with that health spell you did last night, does it?” “I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Kristy laughs. “I’m just glad she’ll be the one reading her book to the children and not me. It’s crazy our little event sold completely out.” “It’s going to be great,” I tell her, knowing she’s still a bit nervous for the Story Time event we have planned at our bookstore tomorrow. The whole thing is for charity, with all the money from the tickets going to Thorne Hill’s 4H group. We have three authors coming to read their favorite children’s book to the kids participating, and then Kristy has the cutest book-themed crafts planned after that.

“We can schedule a New Year there and have fun and drink. We can also set up our own fireworks.” “That’s great,” I sipped on my black coffee and the bitterness was just perfect. Then, I scribbled on the tablet that was given to me as a gift and for this work. “Thank you for the ebook reader that you gave.” I looked at Penny. “Oh, it’s nothing. We sell those and I happened to have the limited edition one. It’s also unlimited for a year so you can read whatever you want for free.” “I will really get lazy and read. Hyacinth said as per her plan so I’m joining her.”

"But I cleaned the whole place. I swept every corner my eyes could see and my nose could smell. They have to visit you, Uncle Max. I can't believe I wasted half of my reading time doing nothing." "And the remaining half?" Uncle Max smiled and looked at me. "What other half?" "The other half you spent reading your books. Did you read anything new today?" "Yes I did! In fact, it was the most beautiful book I have ever read. I thought you would like it too." "What is the name of the book?" Uncle Max asked, sounding interested. "Shading Black," I said the title aloud as if I had spent all my life memorizing it. "Is it a great book?"

She led him between the aisles, her hand running lightly over the spines. Julian lagged behind, his gaze snagging on the swing of her hips beneath her skirt. Hell. He dragged his eyes upward, to the back of her head instead. She stood in front of a shelf designated *Young Readers* and drew out books, stacking them with precision. "You really should read to her, you know," Lena said over her shoulder. Julian raised an eyebrow. "I pay people to do that." She glanced at him, her mouth twitching. "But it’s not the same," she said quietly. "She’d rather have you."
