I look through the side mirror on my left at the vehicle behind us. "Is this good?" Damian asks, pointing at a classical music. "Hm, yes." I mutter, my attention on the side mirror. Someone's following me. I speed up a little bit, they do as well. I overtake and they make sure to follow me. Yes, they are following me.

The city of broken code swayed as though alive—walls shimmering with embedded memories, every step echoing across a hollow world stitched together by consciousness and chaos. It wasn’t just a simulation. This was the Shadowframe—a living construct shaped by the minds that entered it. And standing at the epicenter was Ivy. Or what was left of her. One half of her face still held the soft contours of the friend they knew. The other half shimmered gold, as though sculpted from liquid fire—cold, alien, watching. Her voice, when it emerged, sounded like two echoes braided together.

“The relic is on the other side. We have to keep going.” The others followed hesitantly, their movements slow and deliberate. Each step seemed to echo unnaturally, the sound reverberating through the chasm below. The shadows within the chasm shifted, their movements almost deliberate, as if waiting for the right moment to strike. Halfway across the bridge, the air suddenly grew still. The hum of the relic’s energy was replaced by a low, resonant growl that seemed to come from everywhere at once. Emma froze, her heart pounding as the shadows in the chasm began to rise.

Zack’s heart ached for he wished he had that with Samantha but it would seem that his mate had another different idea altogether. “Half,” Damien’s voice filled in his mind when Zack thought of Arthur as his brother. Damien always made sure that Zack remembered that he was not entirely a part of Shadow Pack. He only shared half of Arthur’s heritage and it was only through their father that they have in common.

I melted into the shadows, dodging each attack, the heat grazing my skin but never quite touching me. I emerged from the darkness once more, sending tendrils of shadow snaking toward him. This time, they were thicker, more solid. They wrapped around his arms and legs, pinning him in place. I tightened my grip, feeling the shadows constrict his movements. Hyperion struggled, his muscles bulging as he tried to break free, but the shadows held firm. For a moment, it seemed like I had him. But then, with a roar of effort, Hyperion's body exploded with solar energy. The shadows disintegrated under the intense heat, and I was forced to retreat, shielding my eyes from the blinding light.

The first three Guardian Sentinels lunged forward simultaneously with supersonic speed, their massive halberds sweeping down in an overhead execution arc intended to crush everything within thirty yards into fine dust. Dominic didn't retreat a single inch. BOOOOOOOOOOM! Dominic’s shadow wings exploded from his back in a terrifying sixty-foot arc of liquid-black solar plasma! The dark shadow wings expanded like an impenetrable titan shield, intercepting all three plasma halberds mid-air. The sheer kinetic shockwave blew the dust off the basalt floor, but Dominic didn't yield an inch of ground. We stopped a few feet away from them and then the old men spoke those damn words. “Ombra di morte.” (Shadow of death.) The old man said as I took the hood off. I knew what his plan was the moment he wanted me to suddenly assist him with training. never did that at home, why here. The woman looked surprised and the men, well they looked displeased, irritated, aggravated and enraged . Because again they expected the shadow of death to be a man and not a woman. “Liyah.” The old man called out to me.

He asked me, finally releasing me. "Yes. What about yours?" I walked back towards him. "Echo. Although, you really shouldn't let others know your shadow's name. I only told you mine because you let yours slip. Your Shadow's name pertains to the ability they have. Each shadow has its own unique ability." Al began explaining something I didn't know again. "For example, my shadow is named echo because it can create an endless darkness around someone. So endless that their voice echoes. I am sure Shade could tell you its ability

“Apologies, but now that you’ve come here, it won’t be that easy to leave!” said the old man with a laugh. Not wanting to stay here a minute longer, Ryder then yelled, “Domonic Shadow Split!” Unfortunately for him, the second he split in half, he was quickly enveloped by a black light… and in the end, his two halves were forcefully reconnected! Before he could react, a massive force smashed him onto the ground, and the impact was so great that veins bulged on his forehead in no time flat!

’ I was slightly shocked to hear Shadow’s voice, but as usual her voice of reason within me with her calm and soothing voice washed my worries away and provided a solution to my problem. ‘You’re right Shade, thank you for that.’ I said gratefully, feeling much more at ease. Her melodious giggle rang in my mind which brought a smile to my face. ‘Silly girl, we are two halves of the same being. Just because I choose not to speak to you all the time doesn’t mean I’m not there. I trust you Allison and I trust that each and every decision you make for us is what is best for us.’ She assured me and words could not describe how elated I felt.
