She tilted her head again, that same false gentleness. “Not won. Just revealed.” “You don’t understand what you’ve unleashed.” “Oh, I do,” she whispered, close enough that only I could hear. “You sabotaged my body. My child. The world deserves to know who you really are.” I wanted to strike her. Wanted to tear the calm from her face. But the hall was still full of staff, volunteers, people who would carry any gesture straight to the press.

I said after a beat, voice carefully neutral, “Jarek mentioned something at dinner that I wanted to ask you about.” She turned from the dresser, a pile of bras still cradled in her arms. “Yeah?” “You have a boyfriend… and a girlfriend?” Hannah grinned like she’d been waiting for this moment. “Yep.
