I stepped out, smoothed my simple yellow sundress, and walked toward the crowd like I belonged there. That’s when I noticed him. He leaned against a black Harley, his arms crossed, watching the stage. Tall, broad shoulders under a worn black t-shirt, dark ink covering both arms,tribal patterns mixed with something that looked like old scars turned art. His jaw was sharp, stubble thick, his hair cropped short. Brooding. The kind of guy who didn’t need to say much to make people pay attention. An enforcer patch sat on his vest.

Harley nodded. “okay you have a right to be worried because she did not say anything” she turned around staring at the dresses. “why don't I take one of a dresses and go with you? I'll be like your unofficial bodyguard” I playfully hit her arm. “Harley now is not the time for jokes. You can't go to this party if you are not invited. I just have one card.” Harley ran her hand on her chin. “what if I go dressed in a tuxedo like a real female bodyguard? No jokes”
