I giggled, pushing my back against his chest, reveling in his familiar scent and strength as he held me close. “This is really good cake,” I remarked, licking my lips. “Did you guys make it?” “No, we got it from the Howling Hearth. They make you a cake when it’s your birthday, and you can celebrate with friends or even by yourself,” Zara explained. “All this time, we thought you preferred spending your birthday alone until you mentioned it last year during Jace’s celebration,” Kieran added. “We figured we’d surprise you tonight.”

After a while, Luna Nina's voice came over the speakers. "We would like to have everyone join us for the traditional cake. It was made by none other than our very own Nadia!" Everyone cheered, my mom was the greatest baker in the pack. Everyone loved her special desserts, cakes, and pies. The waiters rolled the huge cake into the room. Everyone gasped, it was stunning. The cake stood four tiers high. The rich royal blue and gold colors could only be achieved with a special touch. The cake had sparklers lit surrounding every tier. In big letters, the words "Happy Birthday Alphas" was written on the top tier. The top had a group of sparklers that were blue and gold. It was stunning, to say the

Keith doesn’t call me sparkle. I suddenly sit up, and I rub my eyes to adjust to the darkness. I see Reed and Ryder sitting on my bed with a cake in their hands. The cake is beautifully decorated, and there is a candle on the top with the number 17. “Happy birthday, sparkle,” Reed greets me with a smile. Birthday. It’s my birthday, and I am turning 17 today.
