Harriet paused, wearing a pensive expression. "Actually, I am very interested. It's a much-needed break from my hectic schedule, but the only drawback is Ava," she said, pouting lazily as she glanced at me. "I know, right? It's such an eyesore," I nodded, stretching my legs out in front of me. She nodded in agreement. "I don't think she should have been invited. She smiled and walked out the same way she came in, making him to shake his head. As soon as Charlotte left, Jacob entered. He saw the look on Avery’s face, turned back to watch Charlotte and then shook his head. “You are married, Avery.” He said. Avery snapped his head towards his direction. “And?” “You shouldn’t be looking at single women like that.” What? “I am looking at her because she is a dunce.” He retorted. “How is it possible that a dunce is my secretary for close to two years now?” “Charlotte is not a dunce. If only you know what she does to make sure the desk of Avery Trent works smoothly, you wont call such a perfectly good secretary a dunce.”

Ava sat across from her mother in the tastefully adorned living room, the air laden with a sense of urgency as she unraveled the latest developments in the intricate tale of Avery's life. Her mother, a woman of grace and sophistication, listened intently, her eyes reflecting a mixture of concern and curiosity. However, this wasn't the first time Avery had behaved so irritatingly. Over the years, Avery had interfered with any girl showing interest in Brian. Avery quickly showed her the laptop screen, displaying complex chemical formulas for restoring ancient silver. Irene’s—Harper’s—eyes widened. A trace of genuine respect flickered across her face. “This... this is your design?” Harper’s voice hummed with astonishment.

But they wanted Avery to check, believing she might notice something different. Avery sat down, eyes scanning the photos and documents spread out before her. She looked intensely focused, and I could see the gears turning in her mind. Ryan and Gareth waited expectantly, knowing how valuable her insights could be. God, I was so blind. She’s so damn smart.
