The hut was filled with herbs, candles and books scattered everywhere, the opposite of what it was when I came here last time. “Yes, please come this way,” She led us to the middle table where a large, old book lay open. She gestured for us to sit down and then pointed at the book. “Look at this. Do you know what this is?” We leaned over to take a close look at what she was pointing at, and it was a drawing of a flower. It was white and purple with four petals and a gold centre. It looked delicate and beautiful, but there was also something eerie about it. Just looking at it gave me goose bumps.

He says quickly, trying to back track. “I’d love to see it sometime.” I say with a smile, trying to ease his discomfort. When I flipped the page again my breath caught. The next drawing was of me. Similar to the one he did of the wolf and I, it showed a wildness in me that looked natural. The book snapped shut as he pulled it from my grasp. “Wait! I’m not done!” I wanted to see more of the beautiful drawings and I wondered if he had more of me in there.

He smiled pulling open the box and retrieving the large black book that was hidden inside, gold writing stood on the front and the thickest of paper concealed within. “It is a personalised drawing pad, I ensured to find the best one on the market, your artwork and talents only deserve the best.” He smiled joyfully handing me the quite heavy book, where I could have cried when I saw what was inscribed in gold writing. “Erin Hayes artwork. Inspired by Tony Hayes.”

Which brings me to my master plan. Lucas raised an eyebrow, leaning over my shoulder as I began to draw furiously. "Your master plan?" "Yes," I said proudly, tapping the paper. "Look." I drew a small, stick-figure crown sitting on top of a giant head with angry eyebrows. "This is me… playing you." Then, I drew a row of tiny little monsters at the bottom of the page with jagged teeth, horns, and tiny pitchforks. "These are your court ministers and Lord Brandon. They're basically demons."

He apologetically said he would come home early to go out with her in the evening, and Grainne happily agreed. Carwyn was gone, and Grainne and Harry sat in the living room, watching him draw. Grainne watched for a while, then asked curiously, "Harry, what are you drawing?" Harry raised his head, narrowed his eyes and smiled, "Mom, don't peek!" After saying that, he took the picture and stepped aside, covering it with his hand to prevent Grainne from seeing. Hmm, this kid, dare not let me see, must be drawing something terrible. I muttered. I turned the page again and saw a picture of something I recognized. It was a demon and it looked almost exactly like the ones we saw before, drawn in thick, black lines. Around it was a large circle, but the lines in the circle were too faint and dirty to fully make out what it was. “This isn’t working,” I groaned, sitting back on my knees as I stared to feel an ache in my head, it as if the book itself didn’t want me to read it. “These stupid books are useless.”

I always lock it before leaving the premises. “But I… Did I…” Brushing it off, I pull the mini door open, and yelp when a heap of papers rains on me as if waiting for me to open it all along. I stay still for a moment, just blinking at the drawings. They’re ugly exaggerated images of me; big head, messy hair, thin legs… I’m as tiny as a doll, while a big guy towers over me, his pants down, and I’m choking on his… What?! My heart drops.

Then I went to the kitchen table where Julie had left the drawings, weighted down with a crayon so they wouldn't slide, two pieces of paper in the particular bold lines of a four year old who doesn't yet know to doubt herself. As I bent down to pick it up, I realised it had fallen open to a specific page. The illustration staring back at me held me in place like a beast with its claws in my chest. It was a drawing of a monster with long, dried-up black hair, claw-like nails, and prominent fangs. Below the drawing was a single red drop of blood, as if it were dripping from the fangs.
