“And headmistress Morwen?” “Headmistress Morwen fears me,” Harry said with a chuckle that wasn’t entirely human. “She should. Once, she tried to bind me to her will. She failed. But she thinks she has another way now.” His eyes moved to me, sharp and knowing. “You.” My skin went cold. “Me?” “Yes.” His tone softened, but words were sharp. “ Raven left you with a fragment of his power when he died,That power is dangerous. Headmistress Morwen craves for it. She’ll tear the academy apart to claim you.”

Part of me wanted to wake him, to tell him what I was seeing, to have him come with me to investigate. But another part of me, the part that had been keeping secrets since I discovered my mother's legacy, knew I couldn't. “Ethan loves me”, I thought, my heart was aching with the truth of it. “But I could not let him know who I truly am. From the bloodline of witches, which I inherited from my mother.” The magical heritage that ran through my veins, the abilities I was only beginning to understand, the crystal visions and blood magic, and all the supernatural gifts my mother had passed down to me, these were secrets I had kept even from my mate.

I nearly crushed my phone in my hand. One photo after another flicked past my screen, and then I saw it: Serena Ashford’s necklace. That ruby pendant was our family’s heirloom. It had been passed down for more than a hundred generations, but now it was hanging around the neck of an outsider? I remembered it clearly. On Lila’s eighteenth birthday, I had placed it around her neck myself. My pulse thundered as I dialed the number for Lila’s university, words spilling out before I could stop myself. I demanded to know about her enrollment.

Leo nodded and disappeared down the stairs, his footsteps light and eager. Lydia and Adrian stayed on the balcony for a moment longer, watching the lighthouse beam begin its nightly sweep. The white light cut through the gathering dusk, a steady, rhythmic pulse that said *We are here, we are alive, and the way is clear.* The inheritance was finally settled. It wasn't found in the blood, the labs, or the towers. It was found in the salt of the sea, the soil of the gardens, and the eyes of the children who would never know the name of the man who tried to own the sun.

It hadn't brought a letter; it had brought a heavy, wax-sealed dossier. Maternity Papers. Her mother’s father,a Warlock of immense power and even greater spite, had finally died. In his wake, he had left a legal labyrinth that established Anna Elara McKinnley as his sole heir. The McKinnley name was a shield of old-world magic that the wolves couldn't easily pierce. The inheritance came with conditions: a monthly stipend, a small, shielded apartment, and a mandate to attend Stein College until her twenty-first year.

Had the woman not insisted on speaking to her in private against all odds, she would have lost the chance to learn so much. When Klara Vischer realised that she had no more time, she used the vestiges of her magical power to transfer all that she had ever known into Evanora’s sea of consciousness. Under normal circumstances, a dying witch or wizard would transfer their knowledge to a vessel, be it living or dead, through a process called Magiaren herentzia, the inheritance of magic. In ancient magical families with pure bloodlines, this process was seen as a way of passing inheritances, and only the first or most powerful offspring of his or her generation ever received the inheritance from

"Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix * H U N T E R J O N E S | The Lovestruck Bad Boy It had been a really good day. I had gotten to spend time with Mey, helping her with homework and telling her my life story. I let out a dreamy sigh, which made me look like Ron after he accidentally drank the love potion. Except that I didn't need a love potion to be crazy about Mey.

I nodded, still maintaining my act. “At that time, I held onto her, not letting her leave because I wanted to know how to find her later. She mentioned to look for Ethan, saying he was her relative. I don’t remember if she said they were cousins or if she was his niece,” Harry explained, his account matching what I had heard before. “Ah, I see,” I responded, understandingly. “But I really didn’t expect her to be that kind of magician. Now, I’m also wondering if the magic she used on me is actually dark magic.”

"A few rogue shifters decided to ambush my ride on the mountain highway, and then the Archon decided to throw me down here for breaking his favorite rock," I explained while pulling the dry shirt over my head. "I heard the rumors flying around the dorms, but nobody actually believed a human could shatter the sorting crystal," she said, and she leaned against the edge of her desk while watching me turn around. "I didn't mean to break it, and I swear I don't have any secret magic hiding in my pockets," I insisted, and I rubbed my temples because a dull headache was starting to form behind my eyes.

Her voice shook, but her heart remained firm. She had decided. She would sever the link between her child and its sire. The spell was forbidden—designed to break magical inheritance, to shroud the child in an aura of neutrality. It would seal any trace of the father's blood. The child would carry only hers. A silent future, hidden from fate, from prophecy, from peril. The ingredients shimmered on the altar: a fragment of obsidian, crushed moonstone, her own blood mixed with elfroot, and a golden leaf from the Landon Tree itself—retrieved long ago in secret, against every rule.
