Dawn Smith was the little sister she never had. “Great!” Dawn said, happily “ooh, Harry Potter!” she added as she flopped down onto the bed, her black and purple striped hair fanning out over the bedspread. She snatched the book from Lena’s hands “I prefer Goblet of Fire” she glanced up at the older woman “it had dragons”. “So does Philosopher’s Stone”, Lena pointed out. Dawn blew a raspberry at that. “Hardly. It was the second time I burned myself with my cup of tea. I had recently bought it when I discovered an internet store about literary articles, and I instantly fell in love with the Harry Potter-themed cup that only required the coat of arms belonging to the book when it was filled to the top by a smoking liquid. Most of the time, I just filled it with water just to have the pleasure of seeing the dark color giving way to the brightness that contained the drawing of the most famous magnificent witchcraft school in the literary world.

I needed a few more weeks to digest that accident. Determined, I wheeled back towards the shelves and reached out for the book but the shelf was too high and I only managed to touch the cover. I shook my head in frustration and tried again, pulling my arm even further and got hold of the cover. Absorbed, I forgot all about the childrens' books piled in front of my book and the more I pulled Harry Potter towards me, the more the other books would tip dangerously over my head. I gave one last harsh pull and the pile of books came tumbling down. I screamed, ducking for cover and waited for them to pound me but they never did.

Back in LA, in times like this, where I had nothing to do and was seemingly distracted, I would lie in bed, reread one of the books on my shelf, and reread it the next day until I could almost memorize the entire thing. I'm an avid fan of reading. I loved J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, James Patterson's Maximum Ride Series and his other books like Suzanne's letter to Nicholas, Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series, The Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus, the House of Night series, Blue Bloods and many others I can't name now.
