Damn, only the moon goddess knows what she would do with him when she finally makes an appearance. “I promise and I will keep my promise.” “That’s good enough. So when will it happen?” I asked. “How about the day after tomorrow?” He asked. “Harry is leaving that day.” I told him. I spoke with my brother earlier and he explained to me that he has business to take care of. He promised that he would be gone for only a week and would come back with my sister in time for my first full moon as Luna. I didn’t tell him but I was worried about them.

“Okay, well how about this. In private it’s just Haley. If we are in a formal setting call me Luna.” “Alpha will not like it.” “Well if I am Luna then consider it an order.” Harrison has his arms crossed against his chest and he is shaking his head but I can see he’s smiling. I head to the locker room to shower and head to my shop. As I am dressing in one of the stalls, two more girls walk in and I stay quiet. I can’t believe what I am hearing. “Have you heard about our new Luna?” “No, what about her?” “She is cursed.”

It’s actually disgusting to think about. “It’s very nice to meet you Harriet.” I reach out my hand. “Thank you, Luna. And likewise.” She says, shaking my hand with a small smile. “You work in the packhouse kitchen, right? You bake all the yummy goodies?” Now she’s laughing. “Yes, Luna. I bake goodies. How did you know?” “Because she cares, darling. I told you, they care!” Harriet shoots Richard a look and I sigh. “So, you’ve heard the rumors about us not caring as well?” Her eyes snap to me, and she nods slowly. “How many have been told that?”

Harry shouted though he could not move because of how strong his brother is. “Have you not heard of what Mother said about her? She’s a monster, Harry. She killed people more than I had killed in the war. SHe’s the fated Luna that will save them, the Lycans, in the catastrophe— what if she’s the catastrophe? What saving is there?” Adolphus let go of Harry who slowly sat on the floor. Harry supported his weight with his arm and then stared seriously at his brother. “Are you scared of her?”

She thought she had struck a nerve. “The Global International Design Awards,” Luna said proudly. “I don’t expect you to win the grand prize, of course. But hey, first prize or something close wouldn’t be a total loss, would it?” She let out a small, smug laugh.

His eyes held so much apology in them, but I knew I couldn’t be mad at him. “Her mother made them swear they wouldn’t tell y’all unless absolutely necessary. The night, her father died.
