The Day the Hospital Made a Killer
Back at the hospital, I efficiently handled Mom's discharge paperwork.
After gathering her few belongings, I helped her slowly walk out of the hospital. Standing at the entrance, I glanced back at the familiar yet alien building.
This place had held my journey from a naive medical student to a department chief over a decade. It held years of sweat, ambition, and even love. But in the end, it had left only betrayal and scheming.
If nothing else happened, this would be my last time stepping foot here.
"Come on, Mom. Let's go home," I said softly.
