Kaelen, his eyes black, his hands reaching for my throat, his fingers cold. Lorna, her white hair wild, her crown of thorns dripping blood that sizzled where it touched the floor. Marcus, laughing, always laughing, his black eyes watching me from the corners of my dreams, his voice whispering that I would never be free.

Ariana I kept watching the phone ring, and before I could stop myself, I ended up answering the call. I remained silent after pressing the phone against my ear. “Ariana??!” Peter’s voice rang through my ear as he called out, sounding frantic and panicked. “Ariana?? Are you there??” He called out again, his voice growing higher and more worried. After a few seconds, I let out a long sigh, scowling down at my fingers. “I’m here.” I responded flatly and he let out a long relieved exhale that had my scowl deepening at once. I could vividly remember how hopeless and terrified I had felt after he left me without looking back at all.

I chipped in with details to make the story as airtight as possible, hoping to make it seem as real as we could. But despite all our efforts, Helena and Howard's expressions showed growing doubt, as if they were trying to understand what we were saying without thinking we were crazy.
