I slammed my mind walls shut, he clearly needed time to chill, and I needed the space to breathe. “Adeline, come on!” Warm liquid seeps through Adeline’s clothes, and into the ground. I make quick work to press my hands as firmly as I can to the two holes in her body. The crimson liquid coats my arms in a matter of seconds, as the life drains out of her. “No, no, no. Please, say something Adie.” But Adeline stays still no matter how much I shake her. My vision blurs as my tears overflow, falling to Adeline’s cheeks, and that’s when I finally notice her eyes… lifeless and dull.

After a quick gasp of surprise and running to look out into the hallway to make sure no one was around, I bade her sit with me. “I found out about Geo,” she said, anxiously. “Wait, let me summon Gwendoline,” I said, “she’ll want to hear this.” “There is no time,” she said. “I dare not stay longer than a minute. The vampires are on the alert for war. Their senses are more acute than ever. Someone is sure to smell me. I need to say what I have to say and leave immediately afterward. I should be rested by then.”

The lie tasted bitter because the truth was I hadn’t stopped immediately. I had searched for months or maybe a year. But Adeline has disappeared. No address, no workplace and no phone number. It was as if she had vanished from existence. Eventually, I gave up. Life moved on or at least I convinced myself it had. “You’re thinking again,” Mira said. “I have work.” I replied “You always have work.” “And you always talk too much.” I said and she laughed. “Fine. Call me later.” I grabbed my car keys and headed for Hartley Corporation. The drive took twenty minutes, but my mind was elsewhere.

Nothing happened at first, but as Serena was about to put the book down a bright blue light appeared around Adrian, he shone around him for a few minutes and then vanished. Serena looked down at Adrian, and all his wounds, both poisoned and normal from the attack, were healed; a smile spread across her face as Adrian's pained expression relaxed; he was going to be fine. Serena thought as she took her seat beside him, sighing in relief, Serena picked up the Spell book and began going through the Spell book, she found different spells for so many different things, she even found a spell for making new clothes out of scraps so she didn't have to go back to the castle to get clothes for Adrian,

The kitchen was always the busiest part of the castle, the air buzzed with clattering pans and frantic chatter as the maidservants darted back and forth, preparing meals for every member of the king’s household. Elira snuck into the kitchen and curled herself on a low bench at the far end, leaning her back against a wall and pulling her knees to her chest. In her hands, she held one of Instructor Vael’s spell books, burying her nose into the words, as the whirr of the manual grinder drained out distractions.

I shriek when he pulls me down, like he is going to drop me, only for him to carry me bridal style, causing me to blush hard, but I say nothing as he carries me to his room, God, I love his bed.
