Caroline's room to invite her to have lunch with her. Upon arrival there, she immediately pressed the doorbell of the room. However, there was no response from Mrs. Caroline. “Mom, let's have lunch together!” Adaline kept ringing the bell. Until finally, she decided to go straight in because there was no answer from her mother. “AAAKKK!” Adaline immediately screamed hysterically when she saw her mother lying unconscious on the floor with a charred body. Alex and the maids who heard her scream immediately ran over to Adaline.

She set her eyes on the road, trying to distract herself from the trees and cars they drove by, but it didn't work, her mind was acutely aware of the thumb that was drawing slow circles inside her palm. "Uh!" Adeline suddenly leaned to her right, resting her head on Alpha Lake's shoulder as their car galloped. "Easy, Henry," Alpha Lake cautioned, holding Audrey more tightly against himself. "You okay, Adeline?" Alpha Lake asked. "I am now," Adeline nodded her head, still resting against his shoulder. Audrey felt angry seeing what Adeline was playing at. She knew the gallop wasn't that harsh, and even if it was, it was over and she didn't need to keep resting on his shoulder.

The man stood straight in a black suit, holding a sign that read Conelli. “Mr. Conelli, Miss Madison,” he greeted respectfully. “Mr. Loghan has arranged a car for your arrival.” A polished black Bentley waited outside. My boots felt like they were cemented to the blood-slicked concrete of the docks. My handgun was still raised, the barrel smoking, but my arm felt entirely numb. I hadn't shot the cop. But this time, Adeline didn't try to hide anything. She murmured in assent, "The answer you want is here." Then, she got out of the car first.
