Haunting Nightmares Novels & Stories

This morning, I'm still so worried. I didn't get much sleep! I kept having horrible nightmares. In some, I was being chased by a family of zombies through the manor house, in others, I was the Bathory's meal. This food thing is really getting to me. All the little details I've put together is making me reflect on the nature of my hosts. And on the darkness surrounding them. I see Sarah coming to meet me. She looks more rested than I am. My voice bounced around the tiny apartment, thick with rage I couldn't hold back. The ceiling light started going berserk, flickering on and off wildly. A chill shot up my spine, sharper and deeper than ever before. In the corner, a patch of shadow began to twist and ripple, gathering into one spot. A human-shaped silhouette, darker than the darkness around it, slowly peeled itself out of the shadows. The figure was tall and slender—it was a woman's outline wrapped in an indistinct shroud of black mist. There was no wind, but it felt like the air had been sucked from the room in an instant. Then, an icy, emotionless voice rang out. It wasn't in my ears, but directly inside my head.

To the outside world, he was every inch the mafia Don people whispered about. Mr. Holt gave Samantha a hard nudge on the shoulder. “Say yes, you idiot.” “Yes, Miss Knox,” Samatha said quickly. Her voice trembled. And in her eyes, there was only one thing left—fear. “Good,” I said, then gave a small nod to the maid. “If you’ll excuse me, I need to rest now.”

The CEO was busy reading the evening news at Wanda’s headquarters when an LED light started blinking. “Cleo, could you be a dear and let me know which participant’s light that is?” the grand high witch called from behind her desk. The black cat familiar morphed into a human and obeyed her mistress’ request. According to the board, the flickering light belonged to a virgin who was given the vampire moths. As the monsters were currently in the incubation stage, the light wasn’t completely out.

No one except the man. The lights flickered. Static buzzed in the bulbs. Electricity crackled. The carriage was plunged into darkness, just a split second of impenetrable black that filled my mouth, my nose, my ears, like thick, dank water, choking me, drowning me. When the lights exploded back into life, I saw it. A sheen of silvery skin on the man's cheek, harsh white reflecting off scarred flesh. It was a brief flicker of a bad dream. A touch of a nightmare; there and then gone again so quickly that I had to blink away the haze, but I knew I'd seen it, I'd seen him .

Noah ~•~ “You mean the nightmares didn’t stop already?” Katie asked me as we walked down the hallway. “Yeah.” I nodded my head. “It has happened three straight nights now,” I added, exhaling deeply. For the past two months, I’ve been haunted by the same recurring nightmare. Each time, a bizarre creature appears, a horrific mix of a werewolf and something else entirely indescribable. I always jerk out of my sleep and back to reality whenever it appears in my dream. The first night it happened about two months ago, I didn't think too much about it. I just assumed it was a normal nightmare.

Every single one of her bad memories, jumped out of the dark, young Jess sitting with her dead mother, trying to clean her wound, hoping she will wake up if Jess just keeps pressure on it. Her Father chasing her, beating her, screaming at her. Her beast tormenting her once again. All the Jess’s, the young ones or the older ones, each one of them that cried out in pain as they were being cut, burned or beaten, each Jess that was ever told how she should just die,
