Hawthorne Novels & Stories

"Maybe..." My mind strays for a brief, dangerous second—back to the shimmering halls of the hotel, the intoxicating weight of the Hawthorne name, the terrifying pull of his golden eyes. So what if High Alpha Everett Hawthorne turned out to be a ruthless, untrustworthy male? If I guarded my heart and kept my distance, perhaps I could still claim a place in the city... Ping. Ping. Ping. The communication rune resting on the window sill flares with a harsh, bright crimson light, vibrating violently against the stone.

In the quiet town of Greenhills, nestled beneath a sky painted with the hues of twilight, the unsuspecting residents were about to face an unprecedented nightmare. The peace that once enveloped their homes was shattered as the relentless march of vampires commenced, led by the cunning and malevolent Usopp.

“After everything I’ve done to bring you back.” The Hallow should be towering by now. It should be strong enough to step into the daylight, to reclaim what was once its domain. This town was built on its bones, its power, its hunger. The founders understood that. They fed it. Honored it. Feared it. But fear has faded in Hallow’s Edge. And I intend to restore it. I step deeper into the market chaos, unseen, unnoticed. People are still shaken from the surge, Raven Warren’s surge. The girl is unconscious in Emily Connor’s arms, Noah hovering over her like a guard dog. Grace Connor is checking her pulse. Liam is scanning the woods.

Starting Over Country: Aurivelle City: Auremont Adrian I had been in Auremont for two weeks. And the first thing that settled in my mind when I arrived before the roads, before the skyline, before the rhythm of the city itself.. It was a name I had known long before I ever stepped into Aurivelle. Hawthorne. It wasn’t unfamiliar. It couldn’t be. There were very few people in my world who had never heard it. “Do not think of it in such common terms, June,” he whispered, his voice smooth as silk but heavy as lead. “You are looking at this through the lens of human morality, but we are wolves. We are creatures of destiny and design.”He stepped even closer, his heat radiating through my thin, silver dress, a cruel contrast to the damp stone wall at my back.

I cross the road to my apartment building using my senses to look around and be careful and not think thoughts about werewolves I should not be thinking about. I use my key to access the building’s lobby. It’s a tall, narrow building with a long narrow lobby. Each floor has just one apartment. Which doesn’t mean the apartments are big. It’s an idiosyncrasy of Loop City that all its tenements are like this. Like tall, grey blades jutting up from the pavements.

“He went to town for something and your two sisters also went to town for a friend’s birthday, they are not back” “Hmmm” she turned to Malcolm, “why don’t the two of you discuss and I will check out the house?” “Okay, be careful” his voice was filled with a lot of concern and aura nodded, he was the only one that loved her in this world anyways. After she was out of eyesight and earshot, Malcolm cleared his throat and faced the woman who was obviously scanning him from head to toe. “I am Malcolm Hart” “I know '' Aurora's mum immediately responded, “I have read a lot about you in the papers since that day. I ought to know the kind of man my precious daughter will be getting married to”

Her back finally hits the brick wall indicating the end of the stone backstreet. Pressing her lids closed, "Please God, don't let it end like this." She offers up a quick prayer before opening her eyes to the approaching shadows. A thump comes from somewhere behind the darkness. The ruby eyes growing larger and larger are all that encompass the alley. Suddenly, a crack echoes the tight space and the red eyes of one of the gargoyles grow bigger before it falls to the ground. The stone creature is silent as it writhes there for a minute. Even its companion pauses in shock until the shadow gargoyle vanishes.

AVA R. -*- The journey to the village is quiet, the rhythmic crunch of my steps the only sound accompanying me. Just ahead, the cobbled roads emerge from the mist, marking the end of my long trek. Nestled far from the relentless hum of city life, the town is an ideal sanctuary—a place where werewolves can vanish into the crowd, their existence masked by the mundane. A perfect execution of "hiding in plain sight," if what I've read is to be believed.
