His eyes went immediately to Zade’s bed, to the tangled sheets, to the sweat-dampened collar of his shirt.
“You’re spiraling,” Xander said.
Zade sat up slowly, forcing his breathing steady. “You shouldn’t be here.”
Xander’s gaze snapped to his. “I don’t care.”
“That’s the problem.”
Xander crossed the room in three strides, stopping just out of reach. “Hale cornered you.”
Zade stiffened. “How do you—”
“I watch,” Xander said flatly. “Always.”
The admission sent a dangerous warmth through Zade’s chest. He hated it. He needed it.
