If Ben knew exactly why she had color in her cheeks, he would probably choke on his food.
"I just finally got some good sleep," Hazel lied smoothly, offering a bright smile. "I'm moving on. Letting go of the past."
"Good," Ben said, raising his glass of soda in a mock toast. "To letting go. And to never speaking Liam's name ever again."
Hazel clinked her water glass against his. "I'll drink to that."
Just as the glass touched her lips, her cell phone vibrated violently against the wooden table.
Hazel glanced down. The screen lit up with a harsh, glaring white light.
