“Is that how you impressed that slutty brunette?” I had blood in my eyes, like when those invisible veins in your eyes fill up and make their presence felt. I jerked up, and my fingers were around her throat in a flash. It took all the strength my brother and Aurora had to pull me back. It took Sophia a minute to regain the colour she lost, but when she did, her smile brightened. “If there’s a single scratch on my body, the entire Chicago would know what kind of monsters you all are.”

Me and him, side by side, unstoppable together. For a brief second, our eyes meet in the chaos. Something sparks in my chest. I tear it down immediately. The battle stretches on like a nightmare without end. Bodies pile up. The dirt is slick with blood and slime, sticky under my boots. The shrieks of the beasts mix with the cries of warriors. Many fall. Many rise again. We are a unit. A storm. And the monsters keep falling. But then, I see her. Lycena. At first, she is fighting like the rest of us—fast, vicious, deadly.

She found a burst of strength out of nowhere. Yanking the machete free, she swung it at me again. Just seconds before the blade sliced into me, a strong hand caught it in midair. I looked up, and there was Dexter. He didn't look like the clean, sharp young man I was used to. His eyes were dark with exhaustion, and his jaw was covered in scruff. Clearly, he hadn't stopped searching for me since the moment I disappeared.

I gasped in pain. After exhaling deeply, I clenched my jaw and caught Natalie by the wrist. "Are you mad? You can kill someone if you throw an entire bottle of sulfuric acid at them! Don't you know that?"

He wrote in the air, and a wall of solid stone appeared right in front of our faces. I smashed my fist into it, but it didn't break. It was harder than steel. "You want a fight?" the Architect laughed. "Fine. Let's see how well you do in the next volume." He wrote a word in the air: HUNT. Suddenly, the whole city started to move. The buildings turned into monsters. The streetlights became eyes. Everything in the city was looking for us. They were hunting us. "Run!" I shouted to Bryan. We scrambled through the maze of shifting buildings. The world was changing every few seconds. One moment we were in a quiet street, the next we were in the middle of a burning market.

"Your home is FANTASIA." "1" "2" "3!" He heard a loud bang and five shadows appeared in front of him. "Your home is FANTASIA." He stared at June then the light. What should I do? "Monster, be sure of one thing." he heard June say. "Today, I will kill you." he approached him slowly until he could see his blood still falling from his injured hand. "Don't approach me!" he stuttered as he was walking back, escaping from his senior.

He shook as I grabbed his right shoulder with my left hand, leaning to stare into his eyes till he finally looked at me with intense fear in his eyes. “Do you think I'm some sort of helpless Prince who stays stuck in his castle waiting for superheroes to save his people?” I pressed hard on his elbow, making sure a few bones cracked causing him to scream in pain and agony. “I'm the monster Alpha, Hunter. I will have my dinner anywhere I want.” I let go of his shoulders and left the Council court. ~~~~~~~ Elena’s POV I hid by the trees beside the building, hoping I could still eavesdrop on their conversation but at a point, I didn't need to eavesdrop anymore.

His approach was announced by primal sounds and the scent of soil and blood; Without wasting time, I lunged at him, my teeth sinking into his arm in an instant, the metallic taste foreign yet repelling—This was never who I was meant to be.
