Come here, let me get you something.” She moved to the pantry to pull out a tin of cookies, their sugary scent filling the air instantly. “These are my special ones made with honey and oats, good for calming the nerves. Take a few but then head straight back to bed, alright? Missing sleep will not do you or that pup any favors.” I took some cookies in my hands and met her warm eyes, filled with motherly affection. “Thank you, Aline. It is just… hard sometimes, at night. You’ll be better when you eat this though,” Erica, the one who handled the cooking that day, soon placed a serving of freshly baked cookies in front of me.
