Heart & Hustle

Heart & Hustle

“No, that doesn’t make sense. We didn’t agree to anything.” Malik’s jaw tightened slightly. “That’s not how systems like this work.” A beat. “They don’t ask.” The room responded again. Not with sound. With pressure. Keisha felt it behind her eyes now, like the space itself had become more aware of her breathing pattern. She instinctively took a small step back without realizing it. Malik noticed. “You feel that?” he asked quietly. Keisha nodded once. “Yeah.” “That’s feedback,” he said. Her eyes narrowed slightly.

Professor Dearest

he shouts. A pulse of adrenaline kicks in, and I rush toward the guy, kneeling down by his side. “Where does it hurt?” He clutches his chest, breathing rapidly and unable to speak. I check his pulse quickly, finding it at his neck. It’s racing too fast and there’s no doubt he’s going into cardiac arrest. “I need a defibrillator, this man is going into cardiac arrest,” I shout, pumping my hands up and down on his chest.

Dangerous Heartbeats

Dangerous Heartbeats

I don't think I'd ever get the opportunity to have him this close to me if he ever found out what I was up to. "You look pretty, Skylar," For the first time in weeks, he said my name, and it hit a spot it shouldn't have. I felt my heartbeat pick up an unusually fast pace as we stared into each other's eyes. Why was my heart beating this way? These were dangerous heartbeats. I shouldn't be loving Alfredo Miller again, but here I was, totally smitten by him. I forced myself to believe that I didn't love him because I was mad at him, but the truth was I never stopped loving him. All those years, it was there somewhere hidden in my heart, waiting for the right time to sprout again.

In a heartbeat

In a heartbeat

All that was there were his serious eyes and perfect face. He leaned in closer and | could smell his breath. It smelled like rain and mint gum. | was breathing heavily now, my heart pounding harder and harder. His eyes were trained solely on my lips, then wandered back to my eyes. His lips brushed lightly against mine and | sucked in a breath, my lips tingling. | suddenly tilted my head sideways and looked away from him. Pushing his body away, | got up hurriedly and stepped out of the ring. "Where are you going?" he asked, climbing down after me.

The heartbeat was heavier than he had anticipated, each beat distinct and palpable. Was her heartbeat this strong right now? He didn't know the answer. He had never seen her in person, only her data. But that data showed her heart was resilient. Ever since the arena that day, her heart rate curve had persisted, steady, continuous, like an unbreakable thread.

Blackcrusthatchet ch 15
"Huh! What happened now?" Raymond turned his head at the screed that was displaying his vitals. He saw the heart rate was falling down quickly. From 194 it fell to 170, then 150. For a second, Raymond felt as if something bad happened to him. Until he saw that it stabilized at 80.

Still coming along nicely. The Archie plot has hot a good point. I feel there is more to come with Rain in the story and I like that. It is good to acknowledge the news spread of his accomplishments beating down Archie, but I would shorten the side conversations of the random people.

I'm honestly surprised that this story doesn't have more views and reviews. It's well-written, moves at a relaxing pace and the author did an amazing job with the descriptions. The characters has great depth, personalities that stand out. It is also clean and well-edited.

The Debt He Can't Collect

The Debt He Can't Collect

Heart rate 142. Dr. Park appeared instantly, stethoscope already in hand. "Dr. Lawson, sit down. Now." Emma sat. Park listened to her heart, checked her pulse, examined her cardiac monitor readings. "You're in sinus tachycardia with occasional PVCs. Not immediately dangerous but concerning given your history. You need rest. Actual rest, not just sitting while you plan your next crisis intervention." "I'll rest after the hearing."

Another Chance At Love—But Which Ex?!

Another Chance At Love—But Which Ex?!

"Deena and Trenton, please go first." We were asked to wear smart watches that will monitor our heartbeat and it flashed to the screen in a second. We sat in front of each other and simultaneously picked up the paper in front of us. "You don't have to look at the screen to know your heart rate. Normal heart rate is color pink, and it will blink in color blue whenever it rises, and green if it decreases. If it's over 150, it will flash red." Trenton and I nodded and I avoided looking into his eyes.
