She leaned her head against his chest, and he closed his eyes, holding her tightly. She didn’t know how long they stayed like that, tangled in silence. Finally, she pulled away slightly, her lips moving in a chant. She reached for him, her lips brushing his as she drew a knife from his heart
Her chanting grew louder, filling the space. A box lay on the floor between them. Hunter collapsed onto the ground, arms outstretched, head thrown back.
Dark magic poured out of him, drawn into the blade as she plunged it into the box. The magic followed, swirling and trapped. She slammed the lid shut, chanting again until it locked with a final, resonant clic
