Oh, go ahead and take the medicine already. Be good!" I kept silent and merely turned away with my mouth tightly shut. My noncompliance enraged Miles, and he was visibly upset. He smashed the glass of water on the ground, his gaze on me menacing. "You're nothing but an invalid now, Cassidy. Without me, you'd be lying on your back, popping out kids for someone else. I don't care whether or not you've regained your memories, but you're taking the medicine!" I clutched my wrist, now bleeding from being cut by a shard of glass.

"There's something that feels like moonlight – cool and silver and healing. But underneath that is something warmer, more aggressive. Like controlled fire." I reached deeper, trying to identify the other currents I could sense. "And there's something else. Something that feels ancient and wild and..." "Dark?" Kanaq asked gently. "Not dark exactly. More like... untamed. Primal. Like it existed before the concepts of light and dark were even created." The room fell silent, and when I opened my eyes, I found everyone staring at me with expressions ranging from awe to concern. "What?" I asked. "Is that bad?"

( Kael's POV ) The rooftop felt like a fragile sanctuary amid the storm, but the bond between us pulsed with an urgency that drowned out the retreating howls of the rogues. Kael's hand lingered on mine, his touch a brand that seared through the thin fabric of my shirt, igniting something primal and unyielding within me.
