He pants and growls in anger. Obsidian is used similar to silver for wolves and gold for Gods and Goddesses. It renders us powerless. The chants become louder as they crescendo and I feel a presence to the left of me. I turn my head and see a hooded figure moving closer. My eyes dart towards the dagger in its hand. It’s gold with a sapphire at the hilt. My eyes widen when I look back and see the face I never thought I would see here, doing this to me and her mate. Xena!

Greystone, King's uncle, understood the old ways and secretly taught an emerging group of young men to fight their pacifist ways, King among them. When the hellhounds began destroying the human world, Greystone and his trained Warriors came to the rescue. Hellhounds are our name for these undead creatures that look like hounds from hell. Scientists genetically modified formaldehyde, or more precisely modified a protein within the formaldehyde, and started the chemical reaction that took our dead, melded their bodies into four-legged, hunched creatures with poisonous claws that tunnel through mountains of dirt and razor-sharp teeth with a toxic saliva that kills humans.

"I'm just… I'm struggling to take it in that they exist. I thought they were merely legends…" "Like the humans believed that werewolves and other things that went bump in the night were merely folklore and scary tales to keep their unruly children in bed at night?" Lexi laughed at Felix's sheepish expression, "Sweet little furball, all Legends are rooted in truth, you should know that by now." Ann frowned as she listened to the back and forth and stifled a yawn as the exhaustion seemed to drop over her again like a cloud. "But, Lexi, if the Hellhounds are such amazing trackers, then why can't they track Aoife?" Ann asked as Felix's eyes widened in realization.

Octavia asked. “Yes, they are the most powerful creatures in hell and also the most loyal. They would do anything for the ones they love. That is why it is extremely rare for hellhounds to have masters because they get attached and possessive,” I said. “He doesn’t seem attached or very possessive to Lillian,” she said.

Zeke turned behind too. Quincy who sat by the sofa shrugged meanwhile she knew that Abi walked into the Catacomb. Something they didn't explain to Abi was that, the catacomb was filled with deadly beasts which used the form of the littered bones to attack and that alone made them immortal. First, the beast were mindless and in a soul form. They only possess vessels knowing as they wouldn't do any harm unless they use a vessel. And the vessel was of the littered bones. So anyone who enters never comes out.

FACT VS FICTION INDEX This is more a Myth VS Fiction index for those who don't believe in Greek Mythology - none of this, as far as I'm aware, is known to be a sure fact - these are simply what my research told me and what I used to build the story. FACT: Pluto, Plouton, Hades, and Lucifer are all different names used for the ruler of the underworld. FACT: Zeus is said to have dozens of offspring with both Goddesses and mortal consorts.

I would be amused right now if the situation wasn't so grim. Hell was just a place in the malevolent realm, where my ancestors, the demon wolfs originated from. Back in the primordial days, red demons fell from the sky to a land they named Hell, before the goddess bound them to a physical body. Once that happened, they were able to visit other realms, and a few settled in Nyxdoria. This fire was why the entire pack had been wiped out. No one had realized what was happening until it was too late. But why Trithorn?

“Hellhounds?” I ask, slowly, not sure if my hearing is working correctly. “What exactly are – I thought they were stories. I mean, aren’t they just myths?” I can hear the sounds of ripping flesh behind me and despite my identity as a wolf shifter along with the darker impulses it brings, the vicious tearing sounds from behind me make my blood curl. “Myths?” Their leader studies me. “Hellhounds are not myths. They are dangerous beasts. Intelligent and blood thirsty. They are also the best demonic trackers.”

“I will tell you what I know, and I will warn you now that it is old knowledge with holes in it, and I will not pretend the holes are not there.” “Tell me all of it,” I said. “Holes included.” “Hellhounds carry hell’s own fire in their blood.” He said it plainly, an old creature himself laying out old facts. “It is not a gift the way your lightning is a gift. It is a furnace, and a furnace must be fed and banked and tended, and the only thing that tames hell’s fire is hell’s fire. In the old days, most of them never learned how. They burned bright and they burned young, and the histories are full of hellhounds who were consumed by the very thing that made them, from the inside, all at once.”

“We could call the den Hades and since the pack is already the Tartarus Pack it’s only befitting that---” “Hmm, who would have thought?” Gaia snickered, holding her mates a little closer as she smiled at Ashley, who happily grinned back. “That Hell’s Alpha was this kind of man?” Who would have thought indeed…?
