Hellhounds were the same in the sense of the human being dead, only once dead, the spirit of a Hellhound would possess the mortal body which in turn kept the body and human functional. They could shift whenever they felt like but they were drawn to shift without will when they felt someone in the supernatural world putting us at risk. Not many people had seen the creature, most believed it to be myths and legends but so were werewolves. I had only heard stories of what it looked like and, in all honesty, I couldn't wait to see one up close.

And a mad one at that. The Hellhound, they called him. Even though he was important, he was known to go on certain missions with his underlings though those particular ones were usually very specific. Anyone who ever got a visit by the New York Mafia with him being there meant they had done something terrible and could not live to the next day.

I couldn't help imagining them as maybe commanders and generals when they were alive, or maybe doctors or nurses. Someone that protected life, or saved lives, then did something terrible before they died and then transformed into demon wolves to serve as warriors and guards in hell. It had to be the most...ironic ending, but to me it wasn't. They had gone from protectors and saviors to saviors still, but a more dangerous type. I definitely knew that the way I saw them had changed, they seemed a little more..pitiful to me now.
