Nova laughed. Hope looked at her. “You like her.” Nova clapped her tiny hands. Adrian smiled. “Looks like they already know each other.” Hope nodded. Then the sky suddenly darkened. The warmth disappeared.

Marian explained, her brow creased with worry. Amara’s heart sped up, but she nodded and followed her through the bustling corridors of the hospital. When they arrived at the emergency wing, the boy lay on the bed—pale and barely conscious, his breathing shallow. His parents hovered nearby, eyes filled with desperation. Amara placed her hands gently over the boy’s chest and closed her eyes, letting the warmth of her healing ability flow through her fingers. It took longer than usual this time, but slowly, color returned to the boy’s face. His breathing steadied, and his eyes fluttered open.
