It has consequences. Julian is the first to remember them. He pulls back. Adrian stops immediately, though the effort is visible. His hand remains near Julian’s face for a heartbeat, then lowers. His breathing is uneven. His eyes are darker than Julian has ever seen them. For a moment, neither speaks. Julian’s lips still feel Adrian’s. That is dangerous too. He steps away from the railing, away from Adrian, away from the part of himself that wants to pull him back and finish what should never have begun here.

He didn’t try, “Okay, maybe I… I didn’t think it through. But, hey, just calm down. It’s not the end of the world.” I throw the last book available directly to his head again, but he stops that one. “Not the end of the world?! It could stay!” I growl, “It could fucking stay forever! We could be mates!” Henry doesn’t look freaked out at all, he’s looking at my mark. And then he fucking smiles. I growl and run to punch his fucking mouth.
