Her skin was pale as moonlight, and when she smiled, I saw fangs that made my own look like a child's teeth. "Maya," I breathed, recognizing the High Priestess who served as the Goddess's voice in the mortal world. "Hello, Kael," she said, her voice carrying harmonics that resonated in dimensions beyond the physical. "I see you've finally brought her to us."

"I don't understand, Chief Priestess. Why would you stop me from protecting our temple? This is my life! And you of all people know that!" "Heed not my words, but your heart, priestess.
