A man hit by a car in New York in 1977 got up uninjured, but lay back down in front of the car when a bystander told him to pretend he was hurt so he could collect the insurance money. The car then rolled forward and crushed him I don't own any of this stories. I found them in some creepy books. I'm thinking of writing my own scary stories, but not anytime soon. Kyle, with a twinkle of mischief in his eyes, said, "Mom, do you have any funny stories from your school days?" Valerie, reminiscing, chuckled, "Oh, plenty! One time, my friends and I tried to organize a surprise birthday party for our teacher, but she accidentally found out and pretended to be surprised. We were so caught off guard!" The kids, captivated by the story, burst into laughter. Kelly teased, "Mom, you were a mischievous one too!" Shantelle frowned and fished through her brain. She replied, "Ah, December because of the holidays?" "No, Mommy, it's February. It's the shortest month!" Lucas answered, and he laughed again. "Did your daddy teach you this?" Shantelle asked. "He did. Daddy gave me a book about jokes and riddles!" Lucas revealed before going to his bedside table and opening the drawer. He gave the small book to Shantelle and presented, "Daddy said laughter is the best medicine!"

I want her here every morning, making me coffee while I cook her eggs. I want to watch those gold-flecked eyes peeking over the top of her mug as she tells me something brilliant. I want to earn that easy smile by saying something humorous. Record scratch, I'm not funny guy. I never say anything humorous except I had in the Elevator. “Just allowing momentary personality leaks.” “You say that like it’s a bad thing.” She didn’t respond. But her smile, small, real, fleeting, was all the reply he needed. Later that evening, they played a game Joy called “Quickfire Honesty.” The rules were simple: ten random questions, ten seconds to answer each. No overthinking. I start with a small giggle on my face. “I spent my day work all day, mmm at my family company” I laugh. “W-what! That was so boring” Z laughs. “Huh, and I got drunk in the middle of the night, in my bedroom floor, and woke up on couch all the time” I end. Both of us laughing because of the story, our faces are getting red because of the laugh. “Oh, my goodness! That’s insane!” Z tried to stop her laughs and leave a little giggle on her face. “Yeah, my life was insane!” I laugh softly.

He told me one about a duck in a library that made no sense and made perfect sense because he laughed so hard at the end that he forgot the last word and had to start again. Emma rolled her eyes and said she had a better one, and then her punchline was the same as Eli’s by accident and they both laughed until Stella smiled, and I had to look down for a second because the feeling in my chest was too much. When the laughter faded, Emma picked at a crumb and looked up. “Where do you live?”
