The First Vampire spoke and it was the first time I saw him smile as he stared at the empty wall at the other end of the hallway. "Elnea?" Curiosity sparked inside me upon hearing the name of a flower I've never heard of before. My question made The First Vampire chuckle. "Have you seen a sword, a fairy and a flower on the flag of Eleneas? What do you call it?" "Yea? It's a lily? What about it?"

I wished I could bottle this side of him and keep it forever. “What do you want to show me?” I asked as I bit my lips slightly. “It sounds stupid and I don’t believe it but apparently there’s a flower here that blooms at night, once a year. Lucky for us, tonight’s the night.” He said as he blinked like he wasn't expecting me to care. “The night-blooming cereus?” I said, as my eyes widened. It couldn’t be that flower….right? “Yes, some fancy name like that. You do know your flowers,” he said, amused, then he turned his head and focused on something. “I guess it’s true. I never thought I’d actually see one bloom at night.”

She selected one, her fingers tracing the intricate pattern of a coiled serpent. "I have a new task for you, Anya," she said, her voice dropping to a low, conspiratorial tone. "A task that requires a certain… delicacy." She opened the box. Inside, nestled on a bed of black velvet, was a single, dried flower. It was a small, unassuming thing, a pale blue blossom with delicate, star-shaped petals. But its scent was faintly sweet, with a subtle, cloying undertone that spoke of something unnatural.
