Then he reached up and cupped my face with his hands.
He whispered, "You don't have to be scared," his thumbs stroked the skin of my cheeks, "because I have already fallen in love with you."
My heart skipped a beat. So cut and dry, so straightforward, I was so sure he could have never said it. Then, there it was, the truth in the air between us, raw and undeniable.
