It wasn't everyday you got to witness an actual ball in an actual palace. The table we were sitted around was for the 'high and mighty' people in the three realms. The highest and mightiest of the high and mighty in fact. This meant probably just the kings, queens, princes and princesses were allowed on this table. Of the three realms, only one of the kings had a wife and a cute little daughter. The other kings were Corey who was still unmarried and king Jacob who was also unmarried leaving a lot of vacant seats left. However, it was against protocol for a non royal to sit at the beautifully carved table.

He told me about my hunt for this woman, and for so long, it has been lost on me who she could be. “Who is she?” I ask slowly, already feeling like my world is collapsing with just the look on Grey's face. “She’s the King’s mother," he breathes.

What it must be like to be so excited by the world around you. “You raise an interesting question, Maia. Why would you think to call me a Queen and not a King?” I ask curiously. “Clearly she recognises beauty when she sees it,” Sebastian smirks. Maia giggles shaking her head, “A King and Queen rule a kingdom, silly,” she says like it’s obvious. Sebastian squats down beside me, “But a King is a man. If two men were to rule, should they not be King and King?” Sebastian asks.

She was happy riding a horse for the time being. "Welcome to the Kesef Kingdom." The King and Queen were there to welcome them once they had arrived. The Queen's name was Liora and, although she was reaching her fifties, she still looked incredibly beautiful in her sage-coloured dress. She had long silver hair falling down to her waist, her grey eyes and pale skin barely marked by the time. It was one of the characteristics of Kesef people: their beauty was ever-lasting.

She was a different woman than the one the prince was used to. “I present to you my daughter! Isabella Herbert.” Said King Roberts very happily. “Nice to meet you!” The princess greeted. Who was red as a tomato, besides being all sweaty. The king and queen welcomed her, the prince had been petrified of her watching her. Then Frankie pushed him to get closer, the menacing gaze of his father had fixed on him. Christopher was really handsome, just like in the stories he read. Isabella felt self-conscious and very ashamed. Suddenly the desire to run away was increasing, she looked at her parents as they enjoyed that show.

"Then I am yours to adore as you please, my king." With a throaty growl Viktor bore Amy down into the blankets, claiming her mouth fiercely. She responded with equal urgency, craving physical union after combating foes side by side. Garments peeled away unheeded as they celebrated survival and triumph with primal passion beneath moon and stars. Later Viktor stroked Amy's hair as she dozed against his chest watching the fire sink to embers. "You are my true queen in all ways now, strength and spirit alike." He kissed her brow tenderly. "Rule ever at my side as wife, lover and dearest friend. The rest of the world shall fade to insignificance."

“You forget your place, witch.” With another flick of her finger, the ground beneath him split apart, jagged cracks spreading as black mist slithered upward like serpents, coiling around his limbs, tightening their grip. The King bared his teeth. “I am the King. I always take what I want. But if I cannot have it… then no one will.” The Queen let out a sharp laugh, unimpressed. “Blabbering as usual.” With a swift motion, she unleashed another wave of darkness—but this time, it wasn’t just shadow. A blinding light erupted from within it, swallowing everything in its path.

“Congratulations, my king. Finally, you’ve found your queen.” I blinked in shock. Wait... “What?!” I blurted out. Of course. It all made sense now. His aura, his power—it was undeniable. This man, this god, was the Alpha King. And Cathy... Cathy was his mate. Which meant she was now the Queen. Holy hell. Cathy looked just as shocked as I felt. “What? No! There has to be some kind of mistake!” she shouted, standing up suddenly. The room went dead silent, and the King growled—loudly. The sound was enough to make my blood run cold.

Close enough that my lips nearly brush his jaw. “If you want to parade me around as your mate… if you want to claim me publicly…” I whisper, my voice growing steadier and sharper, "Then be prepared to make yourself my queen.” The word lands between us like a thrown blade. “Because I already told you, Kei,” I finish softly, my eyes locked on his, “I am king.”

The silence that followed was absolute. Slowly, Karlo turned around. The expression on his face wasn't anger, it was a completely blank, hollow, void of pure, unadulterated carnage.
