***This is Book Six of the Elemental Dragon series. References will be made to events that happened in previous books without being fully explained here. While this book can be read as a standalone, it is recommended that you read the series, starting with The Arena.*** Every time I’m called to rise, I choose a human who is worthy. One whose heart is pure. One who is kind and loving. One who values the lives of others and is willing to give their lives to protect those around them. It has to be a human with these attributes because, while I always rise again, my humans do not.

After everyone had gone to bed, Ethan found his mother on the porch. “She’s the one,” he said quietly. Valerie continued to train her gaze at the distant horizon when she realized that Mikhael didn't intend to speak with her as well. She remained there until she was tired of sitting. Only then did she rise to her feet so that she could take a walk. Valerie was about to turn around and call out to Mikhael when she saw a heart with light filtering through the core.
