It passed.” Emma held out one of the books. “Thoughts?” Rowan read the back cover. “The hero’s rich.” “How do you know?” “There’s a horse.” Emma looked at the cover. “There is.” “So?” “So nobody poses beside a horse on a novel cover unless they’re rich.”

Due to the extreme severity of her crimes, she was sentenced to death, to be carried out immediately. She did not appeal and said she was willing to atone. After that, I never heard any more news about her, nor did I try to find out. To me, they were nothing more than a shadow along the road of my life. Constantly wondering if they’re okay, if they’re safe, if they have shelter, clothes, food, and of course, where the fuck they’re hiding because not knowing, not being able to see them, talk to them is fucking killing me!

I wondered, as I stared up at the sky, who would come out on top or would we lose everything. VERITY I flexed my hand, feeling nothing but softness underneath, not just underneath; all around me. Lazily I slid my eyes open and saw nothing but white surrounding me, and rubbing my cheek against Shamshiel’s downy feathers, marveling at the softness against my skin. His wing shifted, opening slowly, and I saw his bare torso, the muscles rippling as his wing moved. I felt like I was coming out of a cocoon and looked up into his face, a small smile on his lips. In his hands he had the Bible. I raised a brow at his choice of reading.
