Hothouse Flower Read Online Novels & Stories

She plucked a dark maroon flower, nearly brown from a vase and held it delicately. “Chocolate cosmos,” she said. “Smells like cocoa and vanilla. She’ll melt.” Voss took it, surprised by its strange, velvety petals. “It’s beautiful.” “You’re a smart man,” she declared. “Rare flower for a rare woman.” He paid, and as he turned to leave, she leaned in conspiratorially with a wink. “Good luck with her.” Voss walked out smiling. But the smile faded when he stepped into his quiet home.

EDINA POV Grand flower domes had been erected in the garden. I could see them clearly from the window of my room, glowing softly under twilight’s veil—blush roses, night-blooming lilies, and starlace vines woven into sweeping arches that crowned the aisle like a blooming cathedral. I stood there in silence, my heart pounding like war drums in my chest. One beat for every question that looped through my head. One for every doubt I tried to swallow.

It was another sunny day. When Thea and Thorne went downstairs, there was suddenly a bright and eye-catching bouquet of roses in the house. Thea counted the rose stems and exclaimed, "9 stems. This number is unusual, isn't it?" Thorne crossed his arms and said, "I think we first need to figure out if these are the flowers we received at home or the flowers we were planning to send out." Thea searched through the bouquet and unexpectedly found a card. Upon reading its contents, Thea's face instantly turned pale.

Raising the remote in his hand, he pressed a button and whispered, “My insanity.” Her body turned numb in disbelief. The screen instantly split into multiple panels. Every single panel displayed a different corner of her house. *****

I told myself this was tactically interesting and nothing else. By day seven I had stopped telling myself that. On day eight Ruby brought oats with strawberries arranged on top with a care that was its own form of hostility, and stood watching me from the doorway while I considered the tray with the expression of someone who was genuinely sorry to cause inconvenience. "I'm so sorry," I said warmly. "Strawberries give me hives. And the oats look like they've been waiting a while. I don't want to trouble you with something I won't be able to eat."

Unfortunately, the happy times were long behind them. Cassiopeia took out the pictures and tore off Lucas's figure from each one of them before throwing them into the trash can. Anya and she were the only ones that remained. Halfway through packing, she caught the whiff of a repulsive smell. She frowned instinctively. When she went to open the door, the smell grew sharper. When she had taken a few steps forward, she was hit with a heavy wave of nausea and almost lost her balance. She staggered a few steps before planting herself against the wall. Her head felt like mud.

Chapter 11 Love As Joe hangs there, half way through the moonhole in the ceiling, with his shoulders in the air garden, his eyes fixed upon the vibrant purple flower glowing serenely in the dim light, he finds himself captivated by its ethereal beauty. Each delicate petal seems to sparkle in harmony with the beautiful serenity of the airgarden, casting a mesmerizing spell upon his senses. The rich hue of the orchid hybred reminds him of Nerissa, its vibrant shade echoing the enchanting presence she holds in his heart.

CHAPTER 19: A Botanical Invasion And A G-Rated Mystery Sophia I was still vibrating from the shock of the package in the foyer. Calling it a bouquet was like calling the A****n rainforest a window box. It was a literal mountain of flora—a botanical invasion that had claimed half the entryway. Towers of cherry blossoms in pale pink and white, orchids in creamy lavender and deep violet, tulips in every shade from white to blood-red, all arranged in massive crystal vases.

She said "Okay, that's it. I'm coming in, Flower," I said and opened the door. Rose was sitting on the toilet with three pregnancy tests in her hand. "Do you need some help?" I asked, and she shook her head no. I took the tests out of her hand and looked at them. They had two pink lines lit up. "Flower, are you pregnant?" I asked "Yeah, I think I am. All of those, plus the three tests on the counter, say that I am pregnant," She whispered.

“Ms. Jensen, your partner and the kids are amazing. You’re really lucky. “Your arm would have been fine with just some ointment. But they insisted you stay in the hospital and took care of you the whole time.” Moon smiled. Pride shone in her eyes. Julian walked in with the two boys. He handed her the bouquet he was holding, and a warm smile spread across his face. “Your discharge papers are ready. The boys picked these flowers this morning. Congratulations on getting out of the hospital!” Zayden and Yannick leaned in on either side. “Ms. Jensen, look! There are still dewdrops on the flowers!” “Ms. Jensen, these flowers are as pretty as you!”
