Both of his hands come up and close around my arms, careful of the splint, not careful of anything else, and his heat lands on me, immediately soaking down to the bone like it's been waiting for permission.
"I killed one of them," I say against his mouth, because it has to live somewhere outside my head or it's going to eat me.
"One of hers. Somebody who got taken, same as Cody."
"We killed him. My hands were on him too."
His grip tightens.
"And she made that happen. Every piece of it. Put it where it belongs, Noah. We'll go collect."
"We will."
"Believe it."
Outside, the light's coming up gold on somebody's ordinary morning.
