They push the front desk over the trap door, like the sick people they are, ensuring that Jason has no way of following us any time soon. "So this was your dumbass plan, it's never gonna work you know.'' As they lead us down the dark alleyway in the direction of the pub. " is that so honey, as I recall it you're the one in handcuffs and don't even bother with your powers, the handcuffs cut off your energy so they won't work." He waited patiently, and I figured he wanted me to light the piers with magic. I flicked my wrist and swirled my hand, creating a small ball of fire. I covered it with my other hand and separated it, then sent the flaming globes on each pier. The kindling had been dry, so the fire caught quickly and soon engulfed the bodies, crackling lazily and sending small, still-glowing pieces of ash into the sky.

He stretched his hand between the duo and flicked his fingers; a serene blue flame appeared at the tip of his fingers. Chris Jnr and Emm’s eyes widened. Emm edged closer curiously, “Daddy, does this hurt? Will it burn?” Chris extended his hand closer to her, “Would you like to touch?” Emm didn’t hesitate; she stretched her chubby fingers and touched. She giggled, “It is warm… like Daddy cuddles.” “That is because, it is forged from Daddy’s cultivation.” Chris explained, “Its function follows Daddy’s will.” He wrapped the duo with the fire, quelling their curiosity. He then flicked it towards a scrap paper that was lying on the table. It turned to ashes in an instant.

"When you find the dragon, all you have to do is rub the two heads together. Keep the pressure up while you count to three. They'll burst into flame." - "Really?" - "Really." - "What's this spell called?" I asked. I knew a little about magic, and was curious. - "Tega's secret recipe magic firesticks." he said. "Now pay attention: once they burst into flame, they're going to give off a lot of light. Try not to look directly at them. Plant the sharp ends in the grounds, if you can. Do one, and then move further on before you stick in the second one, if possible."

Her intense scrutiny and flurry of questions made him laugh. "Fire for us isn't about storing gases, but the manipulation of energy. You would call it magic, but it's the most basic kind. After all, fire is just very excited molecules." Rurik snapped his fingers. A small red flame burst from his fingertips. He opened his hand, and the flame hovered an inch above his palm, flickering slightly. Charlotte started to reach out, but before her fingers could touch it, he curled his fingers into a fist, extinguishing the flame.

But it wasn't working. “Ughh,” I groaned in frustration. “You have to be fast. It's already realising that the light from the moon is harmless.” Panic rise up in my throat at Xercer's warning, but I swallowed it down, biting my lips until it drew blood. I was on the verge of giving up when I it finally worked. A tiny spark erupted from the rocks and caught on the twigs, and very soon, the whole thing was on fire. “Great. Now how do I use this thing?” It felt like the universe was working against me.

Baji and Joshua were still breathing heavily but they were silent, because they did not know what was in there with them. "Baji, the light? And what's that smell" Joshua whispered. "on it… " Baji whispered back, covered his nose with his shirt and then took out the rock and stick. He tore off a piece of his clothes and wrapped it around the stick and began striking the rocks against it, attempting to create a fire, and after a few strikes he successfully created fire and lit up the stick. "...i don't know what that smell is, but don't try to inhale it. It's making me feel dizzy" Felix added.

Chapter forty ~~Third party pov ~~ After giving her thanks, she hurriedly started making a fire to warm herself. She was really cold. So she picked the dry wood and began setting up the fire, but a problem arose because there was no lighter or matches to start it. Only two pieces of stone lay by the side of the fireplace. Seeing the stones, she suddenly understood: no matches or lighter, but there were stones to start the fire. The issue was that she had only seen people do this on TV, not in real life, and she wasn’t even sure if it really worked.

She huffed as she crouched and placed the sticks together till there was a hole at the centre. I watched as she methodically took a switch blade from her pocket and began to peel the bark from one of the sticks, the thin layers falling off gently till there was a heap at the canter. She took some rocks and ran her thump across the face of it, switch the rocks. She did this till she was satisfied before slamming their faces together. Once, twice and spark lunged toward the dry heap and soon it was ablaze. “Where did you learn to make fire?” I asked as she arranged the wood so the rest could catch fire as well.

Soon, the bottom of the stick began to smoke. As the fire gradually grew, it was placed on another pile of dried leaves. The fire spread immediately as the firewood burned swiftly. ‘Rubbing sticks for fire? A primitive civilization?’ Disbelief was written all over Nicole’s face. ‘God must be playing a huge prank on me!’
