Since I hadn’t asked him if it was okay for me to look at it, I didn’t compliment his work, but it was so much better than my own. I remembered what Mrs. Flynn had said about asking for help from other people at our table if we needed it. I tilted my head and bit my lower lip and look away. His face is full of different colors with different drawings. There's a big black circle around his eyes and if he closes his eyes you could see a another eye on it. I have drawn a hair at circles on his nose and something like a booger on it. I draw a middle finger on his cheeks and a drawl on his mouth. I even made his thick eyebrows thicker! However, he still looks handsome yet funny. My eyes widened when he stood up. "You are done? Then leave!" I gulped so hard and hide the nervousness I'm feeling.

This isn't an outline, this is a full-blown drawing. “This is…” “A hobby I picked up, nothing interesting” He waves it off and my heart shreds up a little. I flip the next page and it's another drawing of me lifting a bloodied figurine high up above my head. My lips are pursed harshly and are painted a sharp shade of ruby red. My eyes are a different shade of brown, they look glazed over like I'm in some sort of bloodlust haze. There are specks of blood splattered all over my face and hands.

A side of her face was behind the top and half of her face was visible to my eyes. I gulped hard when I started scanning the face. His pencil drew some strands of her small hair in front of her face. Unable to bear it, I immediately banged my palm over the picture which earned his attention. “What the fuck you drew! Are you crazy?” I yelled at him, looking into his eyes. They held amusement and then his lips curved into a small smirk.

But that wasn’t what he was drawing today. There was a picture of two girls—rendered crudely in crayon, but still identifiable as girls. One of them had short blond hair and the other had long brown braids. Their hands were on their faces and their mouths open in screams. David had drawn these as big black circles. A huge black shadow hovered before them, a shapeless body with red eyes and clearly defined hands. The hands looked like long silver knives. There were many drawings before this one. Lauren wondered how long David had been at it.

Once our faces were finished I had drawn a jagged crack down the middle as if it were a broken picture frame. Putting the empty yogurt container down I opened up a couple of bottles of paint and spent a half hour or so touching up our eyes, lips and also added some depth to the crack.
