I get myself dressed into something less comfortable. I am just finished, when my phone vibrates.

I wondered what was taking them so long. My eyes scanned the length and breadth of the bathroom, searching for the secret room safety cam. I found it right beside the vanity, embedded in the intricate wall design. I pressed the play button, and the camera’s feed came to life, showing Mother and Maya discussing. Their gestures suggested that they were having a heart-to-heart, not just a casual conversation. I immediately became curious, eager to hear what was behind my mother’s visit. Soon, I noticed Maya’s mood change after Mother left. She slumped onto the bed, her head bowed in thought. Without hesitating, I moved towards the door and tapped it gently to remind Maya of my presence.
