How To Refuse The Route Chapter 1 Novels & Stories

"I would have thought twice about it if I were you." "Let's get the referee," Tyler said with a gesture. "There's no time." Coach Swallow appeared in front of me with a serious expression, nodding. "Alright, let's begin. Referee, please start the match." But before the referee could respond, I raised my hand. "I have a request, please." My coach turned to me, a hint of curiosity on his face. "What is it, boy? Tell us, we'll do it now."

Because no one wanted to be the next target. And because no one dared to challenge the Alpha. I stood there for a moment, unable to move. Then I turned and walked away. The bond tugged at me, pulling me back toward him like a leash. But I ignored it. I refused to be controlled by something that didn’t care about me. I walked away from the clearing. Away from the pack. Away from the alpha who had claimed me and then discarded me. I walked into the forest again, my heart heavy. I didn’t know where I was going.

Meanwhile, I was sitting in the departure lounge and waiting for my flight. A text appeared on my phone. [Harry, I’ve arranged everything. Don’t worry. Cathy will never find you. Your new life begins the moment you land.] I replied with an [Okay]. Then, I pulled out the SIM card, snapped it in half, and tossed it into the trash can. Two lifetimes’ worth of love and hate were all buried together with that tiny piece of broken plastic. ‘Cathy, I’ve repaid your sacrifice with half my life. From now on, your path and mine shall never cross again,’ I thought.

"She's right. Tessa, I'm utterly disappointed in you. You scheme and claw just to stay by my side, and now you're resorting to this pathetic trick to threaten me? "Well, let me make it clear to you—if you keep this up, I won't even grant you the place of a maid. Instead, I'll banish you from the pack." After saying that, he fell silent, as if waiting for me to break down crying, apologizing, and begging him not to be so heartless. But I simply stayed quiet for a few seconds before calmly saying, "Fine." "What?" Chad uttered in disbelief. Clearly, he was stunned. "I said fine. Go ahead and banish me from the pack," I repeated evenly, enunciating each word so there could be no mistake.

"Get in the car, I'll take you home, and we can talk on the way." "No need, let's get this over with right here." I flatly refused without hesitation, my feet rooted to the ground, unwilling to move even an inch. This answer is so important to me. Henry saw my refusal and pressed his lips together. He took a slow breath before speaking, his tone softer. “I know you haven’t agreed yet, but look at what just happened. This was the fastest way to shut them up. I just didn’t want you to suffer for no reason. I’m sorry.”

"She already can't stand that I sided with you about the bouquet being romantic." "That's the price of freedom." I keep my voice gentle but firm. "Unless you have half a million lying around, I would suggest you seriously consider this offer." She flinches as the truth lands harder than the words that carry it. Silence stretches between us, I watch the exact moment her resolve crumbles. In the slow slump of her shoulders, the defeated set of her jaw. "I need to think about it," she says finally, her voice hollow. "Of course, take the weekend." I stand, placing a slip of paper on the bench beside her. "My number's on there, call me when you decide."

If I don't look into his eyes, I can leave, leaving him here, helpless, suffering like an abandoned animal. "I'm sorry, I need to go now," my voice trembles, laden with a mix of regret and determination. I turn my back, forcing myself to move away, but anguish burns in my chest. Each step is a challenge, each second a battle against the desire to turn back. I proceed, knowing this is the only way to protect my heart.

She didn't deserve that torture. We arrived at a certain pack quite late, and decided to pass the night. We asked to meet the alpha and seek for his permission first. "No! We can't accept a murderer into our pack." The alpha said I could see the fear in her eyes. I wasn't surprise nor shocked. I chosed not to care about her past. "News fly that fast. We will pass then. Thank you for your time" I humbly said as I held unto her trembling hands. She gave me that look again, the look she gives when she is ashamed.

Ariana felt it like a fracture. Not loud. Not immediate. But spreading. Slow. Deep. Dangerous. Silas broke the silence first. “Let me get this straight,” he said, stepping forward, voice tight with disbelief. “You’re telling us the way to end all of this… is to do nothing?” The man didn’t look at him. “It’s not nothing.” Roman scoffed quietly. “Sounds like it.” Victor finally spoke. “It’s refusal.” That word settled differently. Because it carried weight.

“Because refusal would imply you have something to hide.” The trap revealed itself fully. If I refused, I was unstable. If I agreed, I legitimized their authority over me. Check. “This ends now.” The man that seemed to be on my side stepped forward. “No,” I said quietly and his head turned sharply toward me. No. I would not let him detonate for me again. “They want reaction,” I muttered to myself. “You will not give it to them.” The silver-haired council member tilted his head. . “Very well,” I said, folding the decree carefully. “You want to test me.”
