Daveson looked at his hands. He'd thought, in the gray-dark hours of last night, about how to do this. About where to start, which piece to lead with, how to arrange it so that the structure of it would make sense when received. He'd built several versions, tested them in his head, discarded them. In every version he'd tried to find an order that would soften the shape of what he was describing.
He'd understood, eventually, that there wasn't one.
