The witch looked toward the doors. "It was delayed." A powerful sound came from outside. "BOOM!" The entire castle shook.Selene stepped backward. Another explosion followed. "BOOM!" The enormous doors of Ironcrest began to crack. Rowan's eyes widened. The witch whispered, "She is here." The doors exploded inward. A wave of silver and golden energy swept through the hall. The guards were thrown through the air. The windows shattered and the walls shook. Then I entered. My eyes were glowing. My wolf stood behind me.

I was about to greet him when I saw what he was carrying. He came up to me and bowed briefly. "The pod will be here soon, milady," he said while he was trying to catch his breath. I didn't quite process what he just said because I was staring directly at the pot he was carrying. "What are those?" Winston hesitantly lifted the plastic pot he was carrying to open them. "Oh these? These are garden worms, milady. And... gnomes." My eyebrows furrowed. "So... why are you bringing them to my home?"

Aella POV The moment Beatriz finished speaking, the castle reacted. Glowing arrows appeared on the floor instantly, bright silver lines forming across the polished stone before extending down one of the hallways. Pamela jumped. “Oh come on,” she complained. “Why does the castle keep doing that?” Chaos laughed loudly beside us. “Because it enjoys being dramatic.” The arrows pulsed again as if offended by the delay. Chaos pointed toward them with a grin. “You should probably follow those.”

The voice inside me became louder. Let me out. I fought it. No. Let me out. "No!" The darkness spread across my body. My mother cried. "Gena!" Alex tried to reach me. Alaric stopped him. "Don't." Alex growled. "I'll kill you." Alaric smiled. "Then watch." He looked at me. "Awaken." A deafening howl escaped my mouth. The castle windows shattered. The mountains shook. Every wolf in the kingdom dropped to the ground.

The moon hung in the sky like a brilliant, oversized flashlight. Lila leaned her forehead against the window pane. It felt cool and soothing. Peering into the illuminated night, she looked out onto the mountain in hopes of spotting Marcus and his pack approaching the castle. She’d had no word from Ben about the rescue Jasper and the werewolves were planning for her, but this would be the prime time for them to do it. She closed her eyes and tried to visualize Jasper in his wolf form as he raced through the woods with the pack, but the pain in her back wouldn’t allow her mind to focus.
