Hired a Gigolo, Got a Billionaire

Hired a Gigolo, Got a Billionaire

"My son is learning about the Hundred Years' War in school. You must know a lot about that." "Of course, of course," Charles said quickly. "The Hundred Years' War. It lasted… well, a hundred years, as the name suggests." Gwen shot me a look. Even I, a non-expert, knew it lasted 116 years. "Actually," I started to say, but Charles cut me off. "And you all? What do you do here?" he asked, eager to change the subject. The conversation dragged on for a few more minutes, and with every question, Charles looked more uncomfortable. His answers were vague, shallow, completely improvised.

Bound To The Alpha King

Bound To The Alpha King

“And when they realized the kingdoms planned to separate them permanently…” His expression darkened. “…they declared war on the continent.” Silence crashed down again. Lucien looked grim. Magnus closed his eyes briefly like the memory itself exhausted him. Lyra’s pulse raced. “What happened?” Cassian held her gaze steadily. “They won.” The answer shocked her. “But—” “For a while,” he corrected softly. A deep sadness entered his expression now. “The war lasted thirteen years.” Kael’s voice finally cut through again. “And somehow you survived eight centuries to tell the story?”

Taking a sip of my whiskey, I felt the familiar burn as it slid down my throat, praying to whatever deity would listen that it'd numb the pounding headache beginning to overwhelm all my other senses. “Fuck me,” I mumbled under my breath as I opened the book titled, ‘History of the Great War.’ It was the usual stuff, talking about the first days of humans discovering the supernatural world was real, the attacks within our governments and armies, and the billions who had died. God, it had been a cluster fuck, a well-planned cluster fuck that none of us had seen coming. The war had been going on for a little over seventy years by the time I was born, just in time for me to participate in the la

The Darkest Temptation

The Darkest Temptation

I just found where I'm going to spend the rest of my time while Keo is absent. I spend at least half an hour inspecting as many books as possible before one piques my interest. It's particularly old, written over a century ago. By the looks of it, it details some Angel-blood history regarding Demon's. Lugging the book upstairs, I lay it on my bed, flipping the cover open. I take my time scanning the small text, learning about the war, about Angel's depiction of Demon's. It's rough, hearing how they detail the mass death's, and how they justify it.

Her expression relaxes and she listens to me carefully. — You see, the Hundred Years War in France began in 1337 as a dispute over the inheritance of the French throne, interspersed with occasional periods of relative peace. Most of the fighting had taken place in France, and the English army's use of destructive scorched earth tactics had devastated the Gallic economy. France's population had not yet fully recovered from the ravages of the Black Death pandemic in the mid-14th century, and its traders were cut off from foreign markets. On the other hand, the English had almost achieved their goal of a dual monarchy under English control and the French army had not achieved any major victorie

The Lycan King's Exiled Mate

The Lycan King's Exiled Mate

People wouldn’t see me as the cause behind a full-scale war. I dug into the books in the library, hoping to find something that would help my family. It was going to take a couple of days for them to reach the trolls, which might just give me enough time to find the proof. I read through book after book, but most of the history pointed to the trolls not having anything. That was clearly a lie. They had probably been playing this game for a very long time. Waiting for the right moment to take what didn’t belong to them.

The Charismatic Charlie Wade

Merlin’s perception was completely subverted when he heard Christian’s words and he sighed as he said, “You guys are even more ruthless than spy warfare… The entire World War II was only fought for a span of six years, from 1930 to 1945, but you guys actually lasted fifteen years…”

To Be A Duchess

To Be A Duchess

I must do my objective here first. at last, now here in the History section. unlike the books from other shelves who has the same way of oldness in them, the books in the History section has different stages of being old. some are really worn out and some where just fairly new. grabbing a random book, I skimmed through the pages, wanting to know what era or year this was written, or what year did the content of the book happened. but the book only talked about the happenings of the coronation of the King Youseff Troy Von Travensky and Queen Violetta Suzette Perues. grabbing another book, i skimmed again but it was not the one i was looking for, ‘Maybe i should go for the newer ones.’

The Lycan King's Captive

I shook my head frantically, trying to remove the unwanted memories. I pulled a volume from the shelf at random, carrying it to a nearby reading chair positioned beneath a lamp. The leather was worn smooth with age, the pages yellowed but still crisp. A history of the Great Wars, written centuries ago. I lost myself in the text, my troubles temporarily forgotten as I absorbed tales of ancient battles and long-dead heroes. When that book was finished, I found another. Then another. It was in a section labeled "Bloodlines and Legacy" that I found something that made my heart race.

Needless to say I was kind of surprised at how much she knew. I was looking for patterns, who won and how they won and that's when I noticed the dates of each of the major wars. They were all exactly 150 years apart. Spaced out just enough that the stories could be past down but 1 werewolf wouldn’t have to live through 2 wars in the same life time. “Well that’s weird…” I thought to myself, forgetting once again that I was not alone in my head anymore. “What’s weird Dearie?” Koa’s smooth voice coming back in my head.

Great read! Especially for a new author. Interesting story that kept me engaged. Loved the slow introduction of characters that allowed me to get to know each one. However, if you are looking for steamy bedroom scenes, you will find this lacking.
