Before love Lies
I could feel the weight return—the knowledge of how many people wanted me gone, how fragile this peace really was.
Then another thought surfaced, unexpected and heavy in a different way.
“Michelle,” I said, meeting her eyes, “when all of this is over… when we finally get a chance to live instead of survive… I was thinking about names.”
She raised an eyebrow, curious.
“Jason,” I said. “If we ever have our first child. Jason. As a tribute.”
Her breath caught, just slightly.
“If it wasn’t for him,” I continued, voice steady but low, “we wouldn’t be here. He gave everything so we could keep going.”
