I watched for a moment before walking toward my door.
As I was shutting it, I heard Elena whisper, “Go get your man, Auntie.”
I shook my head. That girl was a disaster walking, and I absolutely adored the organized chaos that was Elena. I quietly crept down the stairs before slipping out the back door and into the forest. I stopped beneath his tree, looking up, scanning the tree for him but not finding him.
“I know you’re here, ‘Sprey. I can feel you.”
He sighed as he swung himself down out of the tree. “Hey, Scarlett. I was just leaving. I was hunting a squirrel. They’re fast and good to hunt to keep myself fresh and-”
