A surge of adrenaline coursed through me as I projected a desperate mental blast: "HUNTERS!" I plummeted from my perch, a silent avenger, as the rifle's crack split the air, a leaden missile finding its mark on our valiant warrior wolf. With the finality of death whispering through the trees, the wolf crumpled silently to the forest floor. I landed upon the hunter with the fury of nature's retribution, my jaws a hair's breadth from his vulnerable throat, pinning him beneath the weight of righteous rage.

Kaya hindi ako magagalit o sasama ang loob kapag pinagalitan ako ni Alpha Hunter dahil kasalanan ko naman talaga ang nangyari. Hunter declares, flexing his arm as he cracks his knuckles, making the tattoo of the scythe or a Grimm Reaper's blade twist on his arm in a menacing manner. The woman takes one look at the tattoo before gulping. Hunter takes a challenging step towards her, forcing her to take a step backward. The woman stumbles once more, petrified, as tears begin to slip from her eyes.

I had only seen Mildred and Garren shift, so this was new. Hunter wasn’t nearly as big as Garren, but he was bigger than Mildred. His scales looked rougher, and he had spikes lining his back along his spine. His talons were longer than the others, and his wings looked like they were tipped with ice shards. “Hunter is the last of his kind,” Mildred said low enough for only me to hear. “He’s beautiful. He looks like he is covered in pieces of ice.” I said in awe. She let out a laugh.

I ran into the forest, I didn't know I could run that fast but I guess with the motivation to get away from Adrian, anything was possible. I had successfully lost Adrian, part of me was proud of out runing an Apha and that was the stupid part of me, I knew he didn't have his Wolf with them and I had a headstart. That night I met his Wolf and goddamn it every part of that man is perfect, even his wolf is perfect. Hunter is white with two different color eyes, unlike Adrian's eyes, his were not dark. They shined so bright I was confused for a brief moment. From what I heard, Adrian hadn't been himself completely.

A male voice, that I didn’t know, asked. Looking up, I saw a male player, standing a few feet away. His character was a vampire, but he was wearing the armor of a Hunter. Hunters in this game were players that found pleasure in attacking other players for their gold pieces and items. Granted, only common items could be looted.

“I don’t have to trust you in order to work with you” “See, that’s where you are wrong” he sets the box down in front of her. He bends over opening the box and brings out a short coat with H which is Hunter’s initials inscribed on its back. He hands it to her “I should wear this when I’m out on missions?” “Yes, you do. You must always provide proof of death before you claim your reward. Hunters take 50% of your money after each mission. Hunters don’t care about the injuries you sustain during a mission, tend to them yourself. That’s all you need to know”

“You know that is not fair. She could be saving us all from him. That includes your sorry ass.” A deep gray wolf with piercing amber eyes snarls at us as it approaches us around the corner of the building we are walking along the side of. Before quickly moving toward us. Hunter’s hand falls to his side quickly, pulling out the handgun sitting within his pocket, and shooting. He has been at the shooting range lately, I know that, and clearly his practice has benefited him, as the wolf falls to the floor before our feet with a whimper, blood spreading from the thick fur onto the sidewalk at our feet.

He is standing with his back turned against me, his eyes trained on the other person. I focus on him instead. He looks stunned, his eyes widened, and his lips parted. “That is impossible,” he mutters, shaking his head. “That veil hasn’t been breached in years. Who could have…” “Only one breed,” he drawls. “Hunters.” “Shit!” I didn’t think they were going to figure it out so fast. My breath hitches in my throat when he angles his head a fraction, when everything suddenly stops, as if he can sense me.
