"Where are the elixirs?" A tall shadow on the floor crossed Adeline's barely open eyes. The shadow was of a bulky man, his frame strong and sturdy, and on his hand was a whip. When his deep voice reached Adeline's faraway consciousness, the hairs at the back of her neck stood up. She clenched her fist in anger, despite losing every inch of her being. "We... don't have... such thing," Adeline replied in a hoarse voice, gritting her teeth.

I asked him, and he grinned evilly. "You should. Arent, you screwing his daughter?" he said, and the pack members gasped at his words. "I see your pack does not know that your mate is John Hunter's daughter. That is bad Alpha Wilde. Why bring calamity upon them like that? Do you know that your in-laws are responsible for a mass killing of humans at a gala some nights ago? Their food supply went low, and they decided to vamp out on humans. So I will ask you for the last time, Wilde, where is he?" He asked. "I don't know, and I doubt if he is behind this because he does not survive on blood. Mariana explained with a heavy sigh. “A hunter bitch left a trap in the old mall the clan lives in? And you said this was over a month ago? She wouldn’t happen to have been an Egyptian bitch?” I asked, my sister, having my full attention. And given that Khalid was in my space, the call had his too. “Exactly. And Adio scumbag.” Mariana snorted. I want to tell her that Adio hunters aren’t all scum, but Khalid seems to be the only exception. I don’t count his sister. She’s a werewolf hybrid, not a hunter.

Adeline’s POV The sun started setting by the time I reached home, I pull up to my driveway and turn off the ignition. I let out a sigh feeling anxious. I know once I step foot in the house mum and dad would begin the whole conversation of the whole marriage ideal. I mentally pull up my big girl socks and hop off the car and wiggle my hips in an attempt to brush off the slight pain from the fall because of a certain Mr arrogant and handsome who has a beautiful body but a questionable attitude. Anyways I shut the car door and walk towards the main entrance.

The Hunters have arrived!" The cries of the young boys ran through the whole village, many men and women coming out to see the sight. Liam riding in front, followed by nine other men, all on horseback. On the back of Liam's horse was the dead carcass of a mountain lion, and his quiver held an unusual number of arrows. Instead of the standard twelve like the rest of the men in his party, it held 15, two from the archer who had shot the beast earlier, as well as the arrow aimed to warn him.

And now… “Wait.” Adeline’s voice cut through my subconscious, and I find myself peering to the outside world for the first time through her eyes. “What is it?” I asked, observing our surroundings with all my senses. “Something’s wrong.” She muttered, glancing in every direction where we stopped in the middle of the forest. Adeline waited, for a moment, and when we finally heard the sound of rustling leaves and snapping branches, our hackles lifted, eyes on full alert as she lowered her mouth to the ground.

Mr Alarcon asked, “What are you doing? Did you lose something?” When I saw him sitting comfortably on the sofa, asked, “Come and search with me.” “Brian's searching the first floor, and I'm here. You go look on the second and third floor. I'll come and join you after I'm done with the rooms here.” “What are you looking for?” “The bird. It's missing.” He leaned back as he said, “Finally, the devil is gone.” Brian came down and asked me in years, “Elise, I can't find it on the first floor. Did you find it?”

"I can make you forget the Council. Just one taste, Zane. Let me remind you of the history we almost had." She leaned in, her breasts pressing against my knees, her hands fumbling with my belt. She looked up at me, her tongue darting out to lick her lips, her eyes searching for a flicker of the old fire. "She doesn't even know how to please you," Adeline hissed, her voice sharp with venom. "She’s a cold, little bird. I’m a fire. Let me burn for you." She leaned forward, her mouth opening to take me through the fabric of my trousers, her hands reaching up to shove her breasts into my face, desperate for any contact, any sign that she still held power over me.

He’s pouring me a glass of wine I didn't order. Maybe it will make my blood more palatable when he drains me. I’m beyond caring. A glass of wine seems like the least I’ve earned tonight. "I have no power over the actions of the hunters, but a site can be encouraged to hold no findings. I employ people who are very good at removing evidence. It's most of my payroll." "By dawn?" I watched him drive away again. I thought it was prudent to follow my routine to the T. Get up, have breakfast, go to college, have David tell Adeline everything—how it was supposed to be. Or rather, how Adeline wanted it to be. I would stay in her sight at all times. The moment Patronus was out of danger, all it would take was a jump from the balcony, and I would be free. Sounds easy, but I wouldn’t be here if it were that simple. The moment I stepped foot in Anderson Mansion, Adeline was waiting in the lobby with a sour, twisted expression, fuming. Killian’s prank hadn’t aged well.
