The heat between Zack and Elodie flared as the first hybrid hit the stone railing, its unhinged jaw snapping. Zack shoved Elodie back into the study, his claws extending with a wet, ripping sound. "I’ve got them!" Zack yelled. "Get to the bedroom! Lock the silver doors!" Elodie scrambled back, her breath coming in short, sharp gasps. She hit the bedroom door and slammed the bolt home. The room was dark, the only light coming from the White Moon glow in her skin.

She stood and quickly came closer to the bars. "It doesn't!" His tone surprised her but he could smell fear seeping from her pores, smelling of burnt plastic. "Then why don't you kill me and get it over with! Hybrids are a species condemned to death anyway for being an abomination." She stared into his black eyes for a moment, they reminded her of an onyx.

He sits up immediately, his expression innocently guilty. “I promise it’s just a few questions this time.” “Ask now, before I change my mind.” I tease. “Who is the hybrid?” He asks, those large eyes peering up at me through the darkness. I wait for my body to still as it always does at the sound of him, but it doesn’t. That’s a good sign. “No one knows what he looks like,” I respond calmly. “But they say he is part vampire and part werewolf.” “And he killed you papa.” He says quietly.
