She always eats little and looks a little bit anemic, so I decided to secretly mix tomatoes thinking it would help her health. When I was preparing a meatball, I put a small piece of tomato inside and cover the tomato smell with some delicious meat sauce. It looked perfect on the outside that no one will suspect a thing. I was so proud and called Haze to let her know dinner is ready. I confidently presented pasta with meatballs before her when she sat. I anxiously watched her eat the first bite, at first, everything was okay, but suddenly Haze threw out the food she was eating and then found the tomato piece inside it.

"Which part of you miss me?" "Here," Tommy said, patting his chest and giving him a peck on the cheek, leaving his face wet and stinky. Isaac frowned. "What did you eat tonight?" Tommy tilted his head in thought. "Soup and food." Isaac almost laughed. What would he be eating if not food? "Anything else?" Tommy racked his head. "Oh. I also ate poop. It was very sweet." Isaac was speechless. He ate… poop?!

He paused before telling the story of the missing pumpkin soup. "I went to the supermarket earlier, only to find they were fresh out of tomatoes. "I asked around and found out tomatoes aren't grown here. They're all imported. And would you believe it? Everyone's crazy for them, so they're snapped up first thing in the morning. If you want any, you've got to be there before sunrise." Cillian vented, "What's the deal with that? Why am I, a college kid, duking it out with the early bird grannies for produce?"

I had a sneaking fear that everything would’ve changed since I’d seen it—not that I’d necessarily know the difference. But there could be zombies out there. Or killer tomatoes. Actually, killer tomatoes might be all right. My mouth watered. I could so freaking handle some giant evil tomatoes after my recent experiences. I’d become a hardened man. And I could use a giant sandwich right about now. Those tomatoes wouldn’t know what hit them. In that spirit, I finished rolling up the sleeves of my shirt—the pants had stretchy cuffs, so they didn’t need rolling, but they’d bunched around my knees ridiculously—and crossed to the window, pushing back a couple of panels of the hanging blinds.

He went to fetch for himself some milk. On reaching the fridge, he opened it, hope quiet but present, the way it always was right before disappointment. Tomatoes. A lot of them. Cherry tomatoes. Big tomatoes. Tomatoes that looked hydrated, confident, thriving. Other food stuff he didn't have the stomach to name. Anything but milk. He stared. Closed the fridge. Opened it again, slower this time, as if the milk might appear out of guilt. Still tomatoes. Egg... He could see egg now.

Now, she wanted the ground to swallow her as Tom was chuckling at her. “Easy now, you can have more of the fish if you want,” Tom said as she was looking at him. Tom has gathered some leaves to put the fish on. Then, he was serving it to her. She was looking at the fish before Tom was biting onto the fish as well. “You still can eat human food?” Jessie as before Tom was looking at her. He swallowed before he was smiling at her. “Why yes. We can eat human food as long as we have blood in our system. The blood that we get can help to digest the food,” Tom said as Jessie was nodding at him. She bit into the fish as well as the fire crackled between them.

The tomatoes turned red again. Liam picked one. He handed it to me. "Farm fresh," he said. "Better than the store?" "Better than anything." I bit into it. Juice ran down my chin. He laughed. I laughed. The world kept turning and we kept living.

The satisfying sound of the removed carrots filled my ears as they plopped into the basket. Next, I moved across to the tomatoes, their bright red and plump shapes making them easy to spot. The heavy dew shone in the sunlight and dampened my fingers as I reached for each tomato. Their fragrant scent and soft texture excited my senses. Slowly and with great care, I gathered each ripe tomato, delicately placing them into the basket.

The tomatoes made a sickening plop sound as they hit the bottom of the pot. When the tomatoes started bubbling and sputtering, I figured they were hot enough. I didn't have any bowls, so I just grabbed a spoon and dipped it straight into the pot. The first taste was enough to make me gag. The tomatoes were sour and metallic, with a bitter aftertaste that lingered on my tongue.
